Topics covered include: user coordinate systems, visual styles, composite solid modeling and editing, rendering, animation, and creating 2-D drawings from 3-D models. Students will create photo-realistic renderings and animations from the composite solids they create. Students will utilize a rapid prototyper (3D printer) to produce 3D plastic parts of their own design. Upon completion of this course, you will: Be able to construct surface, mesh models and solid models using the 3D workspace. Be able to use a variety of 3D visual style display techniques. Be able to define and use 3D coordinates and user-defined coordinate systems to aid in the construction of 3D objects. Be able to create and use model space viewports. Be able to create and edit 3D solid primitives, 2D regions, and composite 3D solid models. Be able to create complex 3D solids using extrusions, revolutions, sweeps and lofts. Be able to use grips and sub-object editing to construct and alter 3D solid models. Be able to extract 2D views from a 3D model for detail drafting. Be able to produce plastic parts using a 3D printer. Be able to reverse engineer objects using the 3D scanner. Be able to create photo-realistic renderings and animations of 3D models.
