Victaulic boasts the largest and most experienced team of engineers in the industry. Utilizing the most advanced nonlinear finite element analysis the research and development team predicts the performance of materials in different configurations to understand the performance in field conditions. A proprietary compound accommodates the effects of thermal expansion, pipe end flare and pressurization. Noise attenuation characteristics are inherent in the design of the grooved system. The unique coupling construction enables the gasket to seal against the pipe, while the ductile iron housing provides both space for the elastomeric material to flex and containment to prevent overstretching. The ductile iron also possesses vibration dampening qualities to absorb sound. When placed in a formation of three couplings linked near to each other in close proximity to the source of vibration, Victaulic mechanical pipe systems deliver unsurpassed vibration isolation and sound attenuation characteristics. For more information about LEED in North America, visit or Alberici Headquarters, the Greenest Building in the World National construction leader, Alberici, built its new headquarters in Overland, Missouri on a 14-month fast-track design/build schedule that was aggressively met by Corrigan Company, a leading full-service mechanical contractor in St. Louis, Missouri. To meet this schedule, Corrigan and Alberici sought an innovative grooved piping solution for the building s unique underfloor HVAC system and selected Victaulic to efficiently support the chilled and hot water systems for the building s air distribution. After the project s completion in early 2005, the USGBC designated the building as the greenest building in the world because Alberici was able to accumulate more points under the LEED rating system than any other building in history. The ambitious Alberici headquarters is 110,000 gross sq. ft, and two stories tall. The 18" raised floor system is located throughout the entire building except for the restrooms and kitchen. The Victaulic grooved system fit Alberici s intent for indoor air quality during construction, indirectly affecting the LEED certification.
