4 What is FACCE JPI? The Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI) brings together 21 countries who are committed to build an integrated European Research Area addressing the interconnected challenges of sustainable agriculture, food security and impacts of climate change. FACCE-JPI provides and steers research to support sustainable agricultural production and economic growth, to contribute to a European bio-based economy, while maintaining and restoring ecosystem services under current and future climate change.

8 SRA: 5 core research themes 1. Integrated food security under climate change, based on an integrated food systems perspective: modelling, benchmarking and policy research perspective. 2. Sustainable intensification of agricultural systems under current and future climate and resource availability. 3. Optimizing trade-offs between food production and the preservation and utilization of biodiversity, ecosystem goods and services. 4. Adaptation to climate change throughout the whole food chain, including market repercussions. 5. Mitigation of N 2 O and CH 4 emissions by the agriculture and forestry sector, carbon sequestration and reducing GHG emissions associated with indirect land use change.

11 Opportunità passate, presenti, future - Pilot action: creazione del primo KH (Knowledge Hub) su adattamento e mitigazione dei CC (2012) - Multi-partner Call on Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research: bando congiunto extra-eu (+ GRA) - FACCE ERA-NET+ Climate Smart Agriculture: adaptation of agricultural systems in Europe - Bando congiunto con Belmont Forum - Bando congiunto con Biodiversa - 3 Workshop internazionali (con JRC-Ispra, CGIAR, Wheat Initiative, Global Research Alliance, FAO CFS (HLPE on Food Security and Nutrition), Belmont Forum, CCAFS, IntensAfrica and Embrapa - Una nuova CSA in H2020 per i prossimi 5 anni.

13 FACCE ERA-NET+ Proposal accepted by the European Commission and negotiation took place in June The call has a total of 18 countries participating ~ 16M from participants + 4M from the EC A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by partners Joint Call with Belmont Forum The call has a total of 14 participants, out of which 8 FACCE members Total participation for the 2013 call amounts to million, out of which 5.25 million for FACCE participation The Call text is close to being finalised Joint Call with BiodivERsA Scoping workshop held in March 2013 Topic is among BiodivERsA priorities for call in 2014 or 2015 FACCE-JPI Era-Net Sustainable and resilient agriculture for food and non-food systems

The event, attended by more than 100 people and watched on live-streaming throughout Europe, can be watched below:
