Built in exotic Middle Eastern style in 1879 by a cotton manufacturer, the extraordinary interiors are reminiscent of an emir s palace. Overlooking Lake Orta, the villa has its very own minaret and is surrounded by fine gardens above the calm, crystalline waters of Lake Orta. The exclusive atmosphere of this luxurious country house with 6 standard and deluxe rooms and 8 Suites, is completed by the world class restaurant which has been awarded recognition by the most authoritative of national and international guides and is run personally by Cinzia and Antonino Cannavacciuolo. 2 History Cristoforo Benigno Crespi, a successful trader in cotton, who bought and sold in the Middle East. In 1879 during one of his journeys, he became enchanted with Baghdad and on his return he built his villa at Orta on the land above the lake where he had spent his childhood and recovered from tuberculosis. During the nineteen thirties, the villa was sold to the Marquis Fracassi of Torre Rossano and over the years poets, captains of industry, princesses, kings and queens graced its halls, the Italian King Umberto of Savoy being a regular visitor there. At the end of the 1980 s, after a spell as a spiritual retreat, Villa Crespi was converted into an exclusive 4 star hotel, a place where art, history and nature melt into one, leaving guests with incomparable memories. Over a century after its design and construction, and following radical restyling, Villa Crespi re-opened under the management of the Cannavacciuolo family. Cinzia Primatesta and her husband, master chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo, personally run the hotel together with their highly qualified, international staff. The two Michelin starred restaurant is made up of three rooms and the veranda, four distinct areas that are joined by typically Moorish doorways, allowing movement between each and all of them, allowing for greater or lesser intimacy according to the desires of the diners Antonino Cannavacciuolo is the Grand Chef patron of this fine restaurant. From the Sorrento peninsula, Antonino has always been dynamic, forthright and enterprising: after working in his beloved south for a few years he left for the northern Lake Orta where he developed and increased his knowledge and honed his abilities. The use of top quality raw materials, simple yet marked flavours and the fusion of past and present make his dishes into extremely personal creations where his soul and philosophy are faithfully represented. 3 Rooms and rates Standard rooms: These rooms have king-size beds and one of the two superior rooms can have twin beds (nr. 231) on request. Each has its own private balcony with partial lake view, and marble bathroom with jacuzzi tubs. They are furnished with period furniture and enjoy air-conditioning, direct dial phone, satellite TV and Sky, mini-bar, safe. Size: 26 sq. metres Rates: from Euro 290,00 Junior Suites: The two junior suites have king-size double beds and enjoy garden views. Finely appointed with period furniture and paintings, the blue silk wall hangings in the deluxe rooms reflect the rich colour in the restaurant's blue room Both enjoy air-conditioning, direct dial phone, satellite and Sky TV, mini bar, and safe. Size: 29 sq. metres Rates: from Euro 350,00 Executive Suites: The two executive suites both have king-size four poster canopy beds with gold silk hangings and feature fine views of the lake. Finely appointed with period furniture and air-conditioning, direct dial phone, satellite and Sky TV, mini bar, and safe. Both Suites has opulent marble bathroom with jacuzzi bathtub and one has a shower. Size: 38 sq. metres Rates: from Euro 400,00 Royal and Gold Suites: The Gold and Royal Suites feature a king size four poster canopy bed with gold silk hangings. They enjoy magnificent lake views and are furnished with period furniture and paintings; air-conditioning, direct dial phone, satellite and Sky TV, mini bar, and safe complete the suites' amenities. The Royal Suite has a fireplace, non functioning, and fine lake views while the Gold Suite enjoys one of the villa's finest views over the lake. The large, opulent marble bathrooms have hydro massage bathtubs. 4 Terms and conditions Credit card number and expiry date is required to guarantee the reservation, no deposit is required. Please be advised that we will check the validity of your card by contacting your bank. Cancellation policy: High season (from the middle of April to the middle of October, festivities and long weekends) - no penalty up to 5 days before arrival - cancellations received from 4 to 1 day before arrival: 50% of whole stay will be charged - cancellations made on day of arrival or "no show" 100% of total stay will be charged. Low Season (March and April, November and December) - no penalty up to 2 days before arrival - cancellations received 1 day before arrival: 50% of 1 night will be charged - cancellations made on same day of arrival or "no show":1 night will be charged. In case of departure before the agreed departure date, we regret we will have to charge you the following: - low season: 50% of the rest of your stay - high season: 100% of the rest of your stay Extra bed Children up to the age of 7 stay in Villa Crespi free of charge, from 8 years old each extra bed has a cost of 30% of total room price. Animals Small animals are welcome, on request.
