Our new Foot of the Month Quilt will teach you to use a variety of feet, including the Candlewicking Foot, the Multi-line Decorative Foot, the Cording Foot, the Chenille Foot, the 3 Hole Yarn Foot, the Five Groove Pintuck Foot, the Button Placement Foot, and the Specialty Bobbin Case to name just a few of the many different accessory feet you will be exploring. You will also be learning many different quilting techniques as you sew up this stunning quilt over the next 10 months. Everyone likes to choose their own fabrics, so a fabric supply list will be provided. Bring your own accessories or learn with our feet. Read about the details on pages 4 and 5. We hope to see everyone, so please come! Page 2 We will be starting our monthly Anita Goodesign Workshops this month. We will offer a Wednesday afternoon session and a Sunday afternoon session to help accommodate everyone s schedules. Each monthly class will cover a different project so by coming to both you will be making two of the three different embroidery projects in your packet each month. We will provide the embroidery machines or you may bring your own to class. What a perfect way to learn to use your new embroidery machine or to try before you invest. See page 9 for more details and dates through January. Susan will kick off her 10 month Viking Foot of the Month Quilt project on Saturday, Sept. 20th. Learn how to use the amazing Viking accessory feet as you create this stunning quilt. See the photo to the left. We will be hosting a ConKerr Cancer Work Day on Saturday, Sept. 27th. This project provides pillowcases to help make hospital stays as pleasant as possible for chronically ill children and their families. Please help us contribute to this great cause! We will start at 10:00 AM and end by 4:00 PM. Please come and join us for all or part of this fun day. Fabric donations and finished pillowcases are always welcome. Fabric must be prewashed 100% cotton in fun colors and prints for kids! We did not have enough time to give you all the details of our upcoming Make It Take It Holiday Mini- Classes for quick gift ideas. These will start in late October and run to Thanksgiving. Look for more details to be announced at the store and in our e-newsletters by the end of September. Sylvain Bergeron is a self-taught seamster and machine embroidery teacher who started quilting 10 years ago when he asked himself a simple question: what if embroidery were the quilt? The answer came in the form of quilt tops containing anywhere from 1.25 to 3 million stitches where simple line and color create complex images. He was the 2006 recipient of the Master Award for Thread Artistry at the Fall International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX and of the Gold Prize at the 9th Quilt Nihon Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. He is a Webmaster by trade and lives in Oswego, IL. Betsy Carlson - BERNINA Special Educator Betsy s first sewing project was a zippered turtle pillow for pajamas, and she never looked back. While in high school, she had the opportunity to earn money with her sewing while working in a local store doing alterations. Her education led her to a career in Public Relations, but sewing was always part of her life. When Betsy decided to stay home with her two children, Nine Patch Sewing Company was born. Betsy trained with Pati Palmer on pattern fitting and created custom garments, heirloom garments, window treatments, pillows, and slipcovers. She has recently retired as president of the West Michigan Quilters Guild. Betsy has been a BERNINA educator at a local BERNINA dealer for five years, and loves bringing in new BERNINA owners and showing new tricks to longtime owners.
