Uzbekistan declared its independence in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Tashkent is the capital and the largest city. The Uzbeks constitute three-fourths of the population; Russians, Tajiks, Kazakhs, Tatars, and Karakalpaks make up the remainder. Languages: Uzbek (official), Russian, Tajik, Kazakh. Currency: sum. Since independence the economy, culture and education of Uzbekistan started to develop. Uzbekistan has a 99.3% literacy rate among adults older than 15. Radical reform of the education sector in Uzbekistan started in 1997 with the adoption of the Education Act and the National Programme for Personnel Training (NPPT). The NPPT (adopted as an Act of Parliament) provides a long-term strategy for strengthening education, developing a continuing education system and reinforcing the multi-level higher education system. An international legal base is being established for cooperation in education and the realization of priority directions of international cooperation, including the creation of joint educational establishments (like existing branches of Russian, British, Singapore and Italian universities) and broader exchanges of scientific-pedagogical specialists and students. The reforms in the higher education sector of the country have resulted in a switch to a two level structure consisting of a 6-year Bachelor programme and a 2 or 3-year Master programme in medicine. Bukhara region is located in the south-western part of Uzbekistan. The most part of territory of Bukhara region is occupied by the steppe Kyzyl Kum. The total area of the region is square kilometers. The climate of the region is dry, sharp continental. The population of the region is approximately 1 543,9 thous.people, about 68 % of them live in the countryside, 32 % in cities. The region consists of 11 administrative districts. The city of Bukhara is the administrative centre of the region, its population nearby people. Other large cities of the region are Gijduvan, Romitan and Kagan. Bukhara region is a Motherland of thousands of scholars as Abu Ali ibn Sino (Avicenna), Imam al Bukhari, Abdulkholik Gijduvani, Bahouddin Nakshband, Najmiddin Kubro, who made a great contribution to world civilization.

2 Ancient Great Silk Road passed through Bukhara region and this noble city was one of the huge centers of science, craftsmanship, trade and Islam culture. Bukhara has rich history more than 2500 years. A lot of unique ancient monuments are preserved in the territory of Bukhara region, during the years of Independence they became beautiful and improved visiting places. More than 2000 such historical monuments are under the protection of UNESCO. Rich cultural heritage of the region fascinated the whole world during millenniums. More than 20 tourist organizations and over 50 hotels function in the region. The Purposes of the project: Making the module programs of the education on antimicrobial chemotherapy, meeting the demands of European Union, and outline within the framework of educational programs of bachelor and magistrate. The Expected results: Higher education in partner- institute will is enriched due to new modern educational module, provided to partner from EU on said directions. Together with that, base of these modules will form proved; proven to be itself in practice courses on anti-microbe therapy, actively realized partner from EU and association "McMAX". Their adaptation and work-out will be realized clinical and technical working groups, in composition which will enter the well-known professorship and doctors from partner-institute. As a result this work will be designed all necessary material course on diagnostics, treatment and preventive maintenance with provision for regional particularities, expansion, migration and generalization wounded infection: texts of lecture, texts, plans and instructions for practical work. Together with that, organized bacterial laboratory at the clinic of Bukhara State Medical Institute will analyze qualitative and quantitative features of microorganism for comparatively short time that will enable to

4 perfect the quality rendered medical services to population of the region. Both employees from EU, and collaborators partner- institute will pass primary preparation on using the methods of interactive teaching on anti-microbe therapy. The Specialists from Uzbekistan will in addition pass education from collaborators and partner from EU, which will realize the observation for realization first course in the course of pilot phase of the planned project. Regularly conferences will be conducted with participation all organization of the project, directed on structuring of activity of the project, review and estimation of its result. The External expert estimation will render the separate experts from EU. Magistrate program and bacterial laboratory will provide preparation skilled specialists, which will be able to solve the problems of modern anti-microbe therapy. The infrastructure of the educational institutions in partner- countries will be advanced with provision for modern technology in the plan rational anti-microbe chemotherapy. At the same time in planned project special importance will be added provision to stability result through activation of the young teachers. Innovation aspect of given project will allow to find way practising physicians into experience and resource, as well as work out general and harmonious understanding of given question. Preparation of trainers on anti-microbe therapy with provision for regional particularities, expansion, migration and generalization wounded infection. 3. Making the bacteriological laboratory for qualitative and quantitative determination of microorganism for small gap of time (the express-methods, tests). 4. Working out of PhD programs on questions rational antibacterial to chemotherapy and course on method of the scientific study; 5. Granting the system of the provision quality for created bacteriological laboratory. 6. Good reputation programs of undergraduate study, master s degree, internship in clinic, programs of graduate and doctoral schools are demonstrated by the competency of graduates of the institute both inside our country and abroad. Our institute is seeking to be an international recognized institute and centre of the scientific culture, science and high innovation technologies. The main aim of the Samarkand State Medical Institute is to prepare medical specialists according to the demands of State Educational Standard due to the following specializations: therapeutic, pediatric, medical pedagogy, dentistry and high qualified nurses. The leading objectives in this way are providing of educational process, keeping and development of the scientific investigations, looking for an effective forms of the combined works with practical health care in the new economical condition, maximal using of the potential of the institute in order to improve basic indexes of health in our Republic. Nowadays in the institute we have consecutive, fazed and clearly delimited system of preparing medical specialists: Pre-institutional preparation. Basic gradual education. Postgraduate and additional trainings. The basic preparation of the students is leading in five faculties: Therapeutic Faculty. Pediatric Faculty. Medical Pedagogic Faculty. Dentistry. The Faculty of Highly Qualified Nurses. Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Education. For the present time 2978 students, 419 residents of the master s degree on 22 fields of study, 268 clinical interns on 29 fields of study and 29 specialists of the programs of graduate and doctoral schools study in our institute on 18 fields of study. The scientific potential of the institute is properly represented by 507 specialists of the professor-teaching staff. Among then 4 specialists are the members of the New-York Academy of Scenes, 4 specialists are the Deserved Scientific Workers, 3 are the Deserved Workers in the Public Health Care System of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and 47 of them are doctors of the medical sciences, 172 of then are philosophy doctors who work in the 44 departments. Clinical departments are localized in the 26 clinical bases in Samarkand city. All departments are fit out by the essential equipments and teaching rooms. The main clinical base of Samarkand medical institute is the clinic of this institute for 450 beds. Every year the doctors of the clinic treat patients at hospital and patients in home-visits for more than 30 directions of the medicine. The departments of the clinic are fit out by the needed modern equipment. Besides it our institute has another clinical base which calls Scientific Center of Pediatric Surgery for 200 beds which renders specialized and qualified aids

6 for children from Samarkand, Jizzah, Kashkadarya, Surhandarya and Navoi regions. There are departments of thoracic surgery, urology, emergency surgery, scheduled surgery, neonatal surgery, cardiac surgery, anesthesiology and intensive care unit in the structure of the center. Scientific and investigational work. Our institute is a leading base of scientific-investigational works in the Republic of Uzbekistan. For the years of existence of the institute it was defended more than 200 doctoral and approximately 1000 candidate dissertations. For the last 5 years by the specialists of our institute it was published 9 books, 5 text-books, 49 educational supplies, 274 educationalmethodic recommendations, 11 collections of scientific works and 2441 scientific articles. Also the specialists from the institute got 19 patents for invention. Scientific investigation in the institute is carried out by the wide spectrum of fundamental and applied problems. The more famous scientific investigation was carried out in the field of pediatric surgery, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal diseases, morphology and children s diseases. There are two scientific-investigational laboratories which were functioned in our institute. These laboratories are the Central scientificinvestigational laboratory and multifunctional scientificinvestigational laboratory which is located in the scientific center of pediatric surgery. Scientific and educational processes were provided with the library of academy in the funds which it has approximately copies of scientific, educational and feature literature. Also there is a department of the electronic technologies in the library which have more than 1500 titles of the electronic versions of the books. Computer hall of the institute has a wide access to internet. Through the internet the scientific library of the institute can look for a literature according to the electronic catalogues of the other libraries and Librarian Corporation. There is a museum in the institute where students can study a history of medicine. Also it was organized meetings and thematic excursions with the veterans and graduate students of our institute
