The programme organized in conjunction with the HSE Business Incubator was well planned, succinct and a true eye-opener. I have learned a lot more about the business environment, current opportunities and future trends in Russia. I am also thankful for the commitment shown by HSE students who went the extra mile to introduce and explain Russia s rich Russian culture and traditions. 3 The National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE), a public university and Russia s current leader in educational reform, is ranked among the country s top five universities, and is one of the preeminent economics and social sciences universities in Eastern Europe. HSE.RU/EN There are over a hundred research institutes and centres, more than 20 international research labs at the HSE. HSE s faculties and schools offer programmes for over 20,000 full-time students. The HSE operates in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, and St. Petersburg. In Moscow, the HSE has several buildings and campuses located conveniently in the city centre. International students at the HSE have a wide choice of learning opportunities ranging from short courses to full degree programmes, including Bachelor s and Master s programmes (with the possibility of receiving scholarships covering the full cost of tuition), international summer schools, intensive summer Russian language programmes (in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod), as well as exchange and visiting programmes. Internship opportunities and post-doc fellowships are also available. The HSE offers over 30 double degree Bachelor s, Master s and PhD programmes with international partners. The university also acts as a Russian knowledge hub for postgraduate and continuing professional education, offering over 400 programmes for 12,000 students annually.

The course is offered for students with different levels of Russian: elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate, and advanced.

6 FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS INTERNATIONAL LABORATORIES The university operates international laboratories in different fields that are jointly directed by well-known international researchers and leading HSE scholars. The labs goals include conducting joint research, holding seminars and Internet consultations, engaging in individual work with young scholars, creating new research teams, and organizing conferences with the participation of top foreign scholars. These activities are ultimately aimed at the creation of world-class research schools in these fields of study. The establishment of such labs is part of the university s strategy to create and develop its research, teaching and staff potential. The Business Incubator supports innovative startups in all industries. Every startup has access to the Incubator s resources and assistance from its experts. The most promising startups, selected through competitions, are provided with free office space and become residents at the Incubator. Some projects have turned into profitable businesses that attract investments and engage in product development.
