3 Number of Accounts 6/09/205 Key trends and developments Little change in the provider market this year - Rise from 30 to 37 current account providers in the past 3 years - Only one new current account provider (Virgin Money) since June potential applicants in discussion with the FCA (Jul 205) but many are likely to be savings rather than current account led - No obvious movement in the overall types or quality of account on offer Savings still key area for account competition - Relatively good rates on offer at low saving levels 40 Interest offered by Standard Current Accounts (Out of 35 accounts, as at June 205) Over 2% Up to 2% Up to.5% Up to.0% Up to 0.5% ,000 2,500 5,000 0,000 3

5 Regulatory developments FCA review of sale of add-on products - Initially expected an impact on common current account add-ons such as travel insurance, breakdown cover, mobile phone insurance, etc. - FCA considering excluding some products from the scope of its price/value remedies, in particular general insurance sold as part of a packaged bank account - Still want to find a way of shining a light on poor value in this market (FCA, June 205) - No obvious impact as yet on the structure or inclusion of add-ons to current accounts Total number of accounts increasing - More availability of Control Accounts - More account options/increasing menu approach UK Current Accounts by type (no. of accounts) Standard Added Value Premier
