NeMo Network Monitoring and Bill Reconciliation Analysis
NeMo Network Monitoring and Bill Reconciliation Analysis The telecom industry needs change, and CYWEST is delivering it with NeMo, providing more accurate telecommunications billing, audits of carrier charges, and proprietary network infrastructure monitoring, empowering its customers to have: Better Education: know your network and understand your charges Reduced Costs: Only pay for the services you need, not overcharges Reliability: A Network That s Truly Available 24/7 Recognition: Notification of Cyber Threats As They Occur Billing Offering Data Invoice Revised Invoice 1 GB $ GB $437 Billing offering Each month, Carriers make mistakes that cost you time and money Over the last five years, CYWEST has found numerous anomalies within carrier billing that were responsible for hundreds of thousands of lost dollars in miscalculated charges. Many companies make an effort to identify errors in their telecom bills. This process is typically handled by the Accounts Payable department or other assigned resources, but given the sheer bulk and complexity of the bill itself, becomes such a time-consuming and tedious task that most companies are lucky to complete even a basic audit. Who in your company is watching your financial back? IN 2005, CYWEST communications discovered carrier billing errors for one of our clients that totaled over $100,000 in fees which the carrier claimed was owed and past due. CYWEST acquired the large amount of transactional data from the carrier, and recalculated the entire bill. Not only were we able to eliminate all potential fees, our client was able to recover and collect more than $25,000 in refunds due to monthly overcharges by the carrier.
We can help you too by finding any errors, and getting carriers to return funds and correct charges. Analysis: each month, we extract raw data from the carrier, and use our proprietary systems to recalculate your bill. We look backward for 90 days just to ensure you were not overcharged. On average we save our clients thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours per year. Direct interface: we not only extract the data, we also contact the carrier and resolve disputes before they occur; keeping you in the loop with regular status reports. If there is a problem, we fix it. Reconciliation Removal: We remove the headache of analyzing 100 page bills, saving your organization time and money. Get what you pay for: We analyze and ensure that the carrier provided all the speeds, bandwidth, and services for which you paid. Network Monitoring Offering We monitor and track the integrity of all of your data. Network Monitoring!! Alert! Always Keeping YOU informed NeMo generates Proactive Tickets - If a trap or alert is issued by a device, it generates an alarm at the CYWEST monitoring system. The system then alerts - by text/phone/ - both the CYWEST engineer on duty and the designated customer representative so that both are immediately aware there is a critical network error that needs to be resolved.
Here are some of the common issues we monitor, and common alerts we give to our customers through NeMo. Link Status Network Report Link Status Verification that the physical interface provided by the carrier to your network is up or down at all times. Security Alerts Track the behavior of data flow patterns between all your locations and identify anomalies that could indicate security breach or vulnerability. Provide corresponding usage graphs of these traffic patterns for extra clarity. CPU/Utilization on Router/Switch ratio: Analyze traffic patterns of each local network site for anomalies that may indicate over saturation of traffic or internal malware attack. Identify the IP address of an internal threat so that the threat can be quarantined before spreading to other corporate devices.
Circuit Bounce - Monitor and identify any temporary loss of network connectivity from the carrier that occurs outside of your physical network equipment. Security Alerts Alert! Warning Messages from MPOE (main point of entry to the building) -- Monitor and identify any unauthorized physical or network intrusion to carrier s primary point of access for your building. In most cases this is physically separate from your actual suite or office and generally not immediately accessible without building management assistance. Here are some common problems CYWEST has seen occur at our customer sites. Each would have caused significant disruption had our monitoring system not immediately alerted and/or resolved it for our customers: Switch loop: Company individual mistakenly plugs a common retail switch into the customer s network; thinking it s a hub instead. Switch creates a loop that disconnects connectivity for large segment of the customer s network until unplugged. Visitor or company individual mistakenly plugs computer into the customer s network with an incorrect configuration. A new and incorrect network device map is distributed to other company computers, disabling all connectivity until removed from customer network SNMP Public Community Calls/String Visitor or company individual improperly installs a home printer connection. When individual attaches that machine to the customer s network, the device saturates the internal network because it is trying to either find home printer connection OR add additional network devices. The resultant traffic pattern causes large segments of the customer s network to stop functioning due to the strain. There is an additional risk since this same activity is used by hackers to identify potential easily accessible targets.
