1 SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION FOR PGT STUDENTS. departments/student- funding/postgraduate/overview ON- CAMPUS PROGRAMMES 1. GENERAL a) Edinburgh Global Masters Scholarships - The University of Edinburgh will offer 40 Master's scholarships for postgraduate study in any subject offered by the University for the academic session. Fifteen scholarships will have a value of 5,000 each, while a further twenty- five scholarships will have a value of 3,000 each. The closing date for applications for these scholarships is 2 April departments/student- funding/postgraduate/international/global/ b) Carnegie Cameron PGT Scholarship - Nine awards are offered to University of Edinburgh students undertaking either a one year, full- time or two year, part- time taught postgraduate degree in any subject offered by the University of Edinburgh commencing in the academic session. The value of each award will be up to 3,750 which will be deducted from the tuition fees of successful applicants. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are Scottish either by birth or descent (at least one parent born in Scotland) or that they have been continuously resident in Scotland for a period of at least three years for the purpose of secondary or tertiary education in Scotland. The closing date of 1 May 2012 has been set. departments/student- funding/postgraduate/uk- eu/other- funding/carnegie- cameron c) The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission - If you are a citizen of a developing Commonwealth country, you can apply for Scholarships for Master s at a UK University. Please note that the closing date deadline is approx. 9 months prior to the student s programme starting usually in the December for students joining the following September. Visit d) The Africa Educational Trust (AET) has been assisting African students in the UK since All AET grants and scholarship programmes have specific criteria for eligibility and students should only apply to those programmes for which they are eligible. Currently awards are available from: 1) South Sudan (UK) Scholarship Programme

2 2) Small Emergency Grants 3) Kenneth Kirkwood Fund 4) Andrzejewski Memorial Fund Visit - e) Beit Trust Scholarships support postgraduate students who are domiciled in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe to undertake a Masters degree. The award provides a maintenance allowance, payment of tuition fees and travel to and from the UK. Visit - f) The Chevening Scholarship offers a graduate of Birzeit University to undertake a one- year taught Masters degree in any subject area at the University of Edinburgh. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the University of Edinburgh have decided to collaborate in a scheme to provide jointly- funded Chevening Scholarships for Palestinian who are resident in Gaza who are wishing to study in the United Kingdom. Visit - eduction- scholarships- chevening- gaza- edinburgh.htm g) The British Chamber of Commerce in Germany (BCCG) Foundation Scholarships provides supplementary financial support for German students wishing to study in the UK. Applications must be received by the BCCG Foundation between 1 May and 30 June. Visit - h) Canon Collins Trust is pleased to announce that there will be one scholarship available in for study at the University of Edinburgh. This scholarship is for Masters study in any subject field. Visit i) Edinburgh UK/EU Master's Scholarships We offer fifteen scholarships to UK and EU students accepted to the University to study on a one- year full- time Master's programme in any subject. The award covers fees only at the UK/EU rate, and is tenable for one year. 3 j) Charitable Trusts There are hundreds of charities, foundations and trusts that can offer some funding to assist while you are at university. Types of funding include scholarships, bursaries, grants and studentships. 1. For Scottish students visit - departments/student- funding/financial- support/trusts/scottish 2. The Gen Foundation is a charitable trust which supports the research and study of Natural Science and the Arts. The Foundation focuses on biological, chemical, and botanical science and exceptional candidates from language, music, and art. Visit The Studley College Trust - Grants to assist students with the costs of undertaking courses in agriculture, horticulture and other land- based industries. Applicants should be British Nationals and under 30. Visit The Vegetarian Trust - Grants for people up to the age of 25 in financial need who are vegetarian or vegan. The Charity can also award grants to mature students for child care costs/school uniform. Visit Colonel Maclean Trust Scheme 1980 and Logan and Johnston School Scheme Provides help for individuals who belong to the former Strathclyde region, with the cost of training, apprenticeships and education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Visit - departments/student- funding/financial- support/trusts/scottish/maclean- logan- johnston k) Edinburgh Santander Scholarships are available to students from eligible countries for postgraduate Master's study (full time) in any subject offered by the University for the academic session. The closing date for applications for these scholarships is 2 April 2012 Visit - departments/student- funding/postgraduate/international/region/santander l) The Julius Nyerere Scholarship & The University of Edinburgh will offer three scholarships to students from Tanzania for postgraduate Master's study in any subject offered by the University for the academic session.the scholarships will be awarded to Tanzanian citizens who are normally resident in Tanzania, and who are accepted for admission on a full- time basis for a postgraduate Master's programme. 4 m) Principal's Indian Masters Scholarships - The scholarships will be awarded to students from India who are accepted for admission on a full- time basis for a postgraduate Masters programme of study at the University of Edinburgh. The closing date for applications for these scholarships is 1 May departments/student- funding/postgraduate/international/region/masters- india n) The Russia Chevening Scholarship enables a Russian student to undertake a one- year Masters degree in one of the following Master's programmes at the University of Edinburgh. View - scholarships- chevening.htm o) Scotland s Saltire Scholarship The University of Edinburgh will offer 8 Master's scholarships for postgraduate Master's study in any subject offered by the University for the academic session. Each scholarship will amount to 2,000 and will be tenable for one academic year. The closing date for applications is Friday 1st June View - departments/student- funding/postgraduate/international/saltire p) The University of Edinburgh South African Scholarships - will offer two scholarships for postgraduate study in any subject offered by the University to students from Southern African countries. One of the scholarships will be available for a one year Master's degree programme The closing date for applications for these scholarships is 30 April 2012 Visit - departments/student- funding/postgraduate/international/region/southern- africa q) UK 9/11 Scholarships This fund supports students to children or dependants of victims of the September 11 attacks on the USA, or other subsequent terrorist tragedy. The scholarships cover funding for full- time study in the UK for a one year postgraduate Masters degree. Visit - departments/student- funding/postgraduate/international/region/ r) The World Bank Scholarship Program and the Fellowships Program are vehicles for knowledge sharing and capacity building in the developing world. The Programs provide opportunities for graduate and postgraduate

5 studies leading to master's and doctoral degrees in development- related fields for mid- career professionals from eligible developing countries.. 6 See - departments/student- funding/postgraduate/international/global/ d) Edinburgh Global Japan Earthquake Masters Fund Following the devastating earthquake and tsunami which struck the east coast of Japan, the University will offer up to six Master's scholarships for students from the Tohoku, Northern Kanto, and Hokkaido regions undertaking a postgraduate Master's degree programme offered by the University of Edinburgh in the academic session The closing date for applications for these scholarships is 2 April 2012 Visit e) Edinburgh Global Online Distance Learning Master's Scholarships The University of Edinburgh will offer 6 Master's scholarships for eligible distance learning Master's programmes offered by the University. ONE HEALTH PFIZER 2. MSc AABAW - DOUGLAS HOUGHTON MEMORIAL FUND - ADMINISTERED THROUGH ONE KIND This fund has been established in memory of the life of Lord Douglas Houghton, who was heavily involved with the RSPCA and SSPCA. The support that DHMF can provide will vary from year to year and may not totally cover the cost of the course. An application form for this fellowship has to be requested when applying for the MSc

MSc AABAW - POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS' ALLOWANCE SCHEME All programmes would be required to be on campus, so One Health and Animal Biosciences would need to request to join the list to Robert Lawrie - funding/pg- loan. 4. MSc AABAW DOGS TRUST - Dogs Trust: Dogs Trust annually sponsors a student from an East European country.
