1 PTC ProductView Supported formats This document includes the following import and export formats. However the document is independent of the release / version numbers of CAD / other softwares. 2 ProductView Native import formats ProductView directly imports the following viewable files in zipped / unzipped formats. Format PVS PVZ ED EDZ, JAR, ZIP OL Pro/ENGINEER (.PRT,ASM) ProductView Structure file Compressed binary file, contains Product Structure Zipped PVS /OL files Engineering data file An ASCII file contains product structure and part attributes Zipped PVS / ED / OL files Geometry file containing objects shape and surface characteristics in binary format Pro/ENGINEER Part and Assembly files ProductView import of Mockup Simulation files ONLY ProductView Standard displays the following Division Mockup formats VDI Format VPF Virtual Product Folder ProductView Native Read 2D formats Virtual Data Interchange file An ASCII file that contains parts, hierarchies, interdependencies and properties ProductView supports native reading of the following 2D formats. 2D Drawing Format PLT HPGL2, HPGL CGM SLD HGL HP2 HP DWG Hewlett Packard s PLOT / HPGL file Computer graphics meta file Autodesk Slide file format Hewlett Packard Graphics Language AutoCAD format DXF Drawing Interchange File format ProductView 3D Import Filters ProductView 3D Import Filters are additional software components which can be used in conjunction with ProductView Standard or ProductView Professional to extend the range of formats which may be read directly into ProductView. JT adapter is an additional cost item. 3D File Format JT IGES Supports JT files Supports IGES files page 2 of 11

3 VRML Supports VRML 1 and 2. STL Supports STL files Microstation Supports DGN 8. GBF or GAF Pro/ENGINEER (pgl) Supports the format used by EPD.Connect Visualizer Known as pgl2pv. This Import Filter provides simple reading of Pro/ENGINEER parts, assemblies and drawing. However, it is strongly recommended that Pro/ENGINEER data is published via the Pro/ENGINEER adapter. STEP ProductView MCAD Adapters Supports STEP AP203 and AP214 formats ProductView MCAD adapters provide the ability to publish native CAD files to lightweight accurate ProductView viewable formats. The adapters can be used in two modes: 1) As a standalone batch mode executable which may be run from the command line or integrated into other software environments. 2) As a worker, typically used in ProductView Graphics Server or Windchill configurations. In worker mode, the adapter is started once and continues to run, awaiting jobs from either the Graphics Server or Windchill. MCAD adapters are additional cost items. MCAD Tool Pro/ENGINEER CADDS5 CATIA V4 Unigraphics I-DEAS SolidWorks Microstation (DGN) Publishes assemblies, parts and drawings. Requires an installation and license of Pro/ENGINEER. Publishes assemblies and parts. Requires an installation and license of CADDS5 if publishing drawings. Publishes.model,.session files and drawings. Requires an installation and license of CATIA V4. Publishes assemblies, parts and drawings. Requires an installation and license of Unigraphics. Publishes assemblies, parts and drawings. Requires an installation and license of I-DEAS. Publishes assemblies, parts and drawings. Requires an installation and license of SolidWorks. Publishes structure, parts and drawings from DGN files. Requires minor customization to integrate this adapter with Windchill. ProductView MCAD Adapters from third parties The following adapters are not available to purchase from PTC but provide PTC-certified capabilities. MCAD Tool page 3 of 11

4 CATIA V5 Publishes parts, assemblies and drawings. Requires an installation and license of CATIA V5. Available from Theorem Solutions Autodesk Inventor Publishes assemblies, parts and drawings. Available from Theorem Solutions ProductView 3D Format Adapters The adapters listed below provide the ability to publish from the specified format to lightweight accurate ProductView viewable formats. The adapters can be used in two modes: 1. As a standalone batch mode executable which may be run from the command line or integrated into other software environments. 2. As a worker, typically used in ProductView Graphics Server or Windchill configurations. Supports STL files STEP Supports STEP AP203 and AP214 formats ProductView PDF support ProductView PDF provides the ability to publish PDF files for View, Markup within ProductView. The adapters can be used in two modes: PDF Adapter is an additional cost item. Module ProductView Adapter for PDF Additional module for ProductView Standard Edition or Lite Edition which allows view/markup/print/watermarking of PDF files in ProductView (Lite and Standard client). It includes a "special" version of Adobe Acrobat (NOT Adobe Reader). This option also provides Annotation with Adobe tools ProductView PDF Collaboration Interface Additional module for ProductView Standard Edition or Lite Edition which allows view/markup/print/watermarking of PDF files. It is appropriate for customers who already have seats of Adobe Acrobat (NOT Adobe Reader) - or who intend to purchase Acrobat via other means (e.g. via an Adobe reseller). 5 ProductView ECAD Viewing option is an additional software component available ONLY for ProductView Standard that must be installed to import the following formats. We recommend ProductView ECAD customers migrate to the PTC InterComm solution family. InterComm solution is an additional cost item. Provides native viewing of a wide range of document office style documents. Word, word perfect, Excel etc. and image formats This is the Inside-out plugin that was part of the standard client up to ProductView 7.0. This is the Stellent viewer that pre-r8 standard client was packaged with, now an optional module. The Collective Document adapter is an additional cost item. Note: To view the below formats in ProductView Professional - use ProductView Collective Document Adapter to create PDF files. 10 ProductView Export formats ProductView Export formats is dependent on the rendering mode. There are two rendering modes Shaded and Hidden Line removal which determine the output formats. The table below highlights the rendering mode and the supported export file formats.
