We live in an era of globalization, but what does this really mean? This This course introduces students to the economic, political, and cultural aspects of globalization. Beginning with a discussion of Hayek vs. Keynes, the course will cover topics such as currency regimes, global trade, and international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank (IBRD), and World Trade Organization (WTO). The course will then consider the political implications of economic interdependence, including its impact on democratization and human rights. Finally, the course will address cultural aspects of global citizenship. Film selections will be used to augment case studies. Human rights have become an increasingly central issue in world politics This course introduces students to politics of international human rights. It examines theories and development of global human rights regime and a variety of human rights issues in world politics including humanitarian interventions, refugee crisis, modern slavery, and North Korean human rights. Using feminist scholarship to create the lens within which to analyze political science texts. Race, sexual orientation, class, and gender identity are all fundamental to the critical analysis of the who, where, what and when of gender politics. This class covers diverse issues such as; women's participation in political parties, women as voters and candidates in political elections, feminism and the state, and gender and international politics. Course uses techniques of multi-track diplomacy to develop the knowledge and skills needed to facilitate transformation of interpersonal, organizational, community or complex societal conflicts, including ethnic, religious or cultural tensions.
