2 Financial Aid If you have not already, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) If you have applied and haven t heard from us in the last 2 weeks, contact us for a status on your application

3 Cost of Attendance vs.actual Cost SIS award screen shows cost of attendance figures, these are not actual costs, but are estimates for all students. It is recommended that New Freshmen look at the 4 direct costs: Tuition Books Housing Food Compare direct costs to your financial aid award to determine if you will need additional funding.

5 Grants Need based aid Federal and state eligibility determined by FAFSA information No repayment required

6 Scholarships Can be merit and/or need based Private organizations, businesses and schools No repayment required UW-Green Bay Scholarship Website Helpful links for scholarship searches Use Report Outside Aid link to notify the Financial Aid office of any scholarships from outside organizations.

7 Student Employment Student employment at UW-Green Bay: Federal Work Study (FAFSA required) Need based, limited funding On campus and off campus community service Regular employment (no FAFSA required) On or off campus Finding a job and applying Phoenix Recruitment Online (PRO) Job board in Student Services Student applies, interviews and is hired by a supervisor What is Needed? Students planning to work should bring original Federal or State identifying documents with them to campus to verify eligibility to work in U.S. UWGBstudentemployment Student collects a paycheck for hours worked, typically bi-weekly

8 Student Loans Direct Stafford Loans Subsidized no interest while in school at least half time; then 4.29% fixed Unsubsidized 4.29% fixed Grace period of 6 months before repayment begins Complete loan requirements at Set up your FSA ID at fsaid.ed.gov Entrance counseling Sign master promissory note (MPN)

9 Federal Perkins Loan Student Loans Funding is very limited No interest while in school at least half- time Grace period of 9 months Repayment interest rate of 5% fixed Counseling and promissory note is required At this time, is the last year for the program Accept and complete requirements timely

10 FSA ID FSAID.ED.GOV Student and parent will each need to have own FSA ID and password set up Access to all FSA websites, including: FAFSA.gov (filing the FAFSA) (loan requirements) (tracking your borrowing history) Will serve as legal signature for FSA documents

11 Award Information Awarded as full time Notify Financial Aid office if you will not be full time Aid adjustments are done at the start of and throughout each term Notified of award via postcard and UW-Green Bay Accept/decline amounts within 3 weeks If accepting loans, student must complete entrance counseling and sign MPN Aid should be applied to your charges in SIS on the first day of each semester Monitor your SIS account throughout the first few weeks of class; longer if you make any enrollment changes, as your award may change

12 Additional Payment Options Payment plan (Bursar s Office) Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan Parent is the borrower Borrow up to the student s cost of attendance less other financial aid, fixed 6.84% Deferred repayment option Parent applies at using own FSA User ID Parent set up own FSA User ID online at fsaid.ed.gov If parent is denied the student may be eligible for additional unsubsidized loan Private or Alternative Education Loan Apply through banking institution or credit union of your choice Student is borrower (cosigner usually required) Eligibility is credit based Interest rates, terms and conditions, and repayment vary by lender and credit history

22 On-Line Methods of Payment: Free On-Line E-Checks (Electronic Funds Transfer, ET) Pay with the FREE on-line E-Checks through the SIS No special setup required with your bank Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express 2.5% Convenience Fee Invoices UWGB does not send out paper bills to enrolled students. Notification is sent several times prior and throughout the semester to the student UWGB account. Guest Access can be set up by a student where guests can view the student s financial information and pay on-line if they choose. Electronic Refunding Sign up through SIS Receive notification of refund being processed.

23 Parking Permits We have moved from Decals to Virtual Permits License Plates will serve as the virtual permit Everyone that parks a vehicle on campus is required to have a permit On Campus students will automatically be assigned a permit and charged a parking fee Student Aid eligible Those who do not bring a car: opt out on SIS fee removed Permit cost is $47 per semester Parking Regulations Public Safety Website
