4 Financial Aid Checklist FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) code File every year for Federal aid, NYS aid, and certain institutional awards. Submit final high school transcript(s) for Federal and NYS aid

6 Federal Education Loans Stafford Loan (Subsidized and Unsubsidized) 3.76% interest rate, 1.068% loan fee Complete Entrance Counseling and Stafford Master Promissory Note at studentloans.gov Perkins Loan 5% interest rate Complete Perkins MPN online hofstra.edu/perkins Federal Parent Plus Loan 6.31% interest rate, 4.272% loan fee Complete PLUS loan request for parent borrowers and PLUS MPN at studentloans.gov

8 Hofstra.edu/sfsparents FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) student must give you FERPA rights to: Discuss the bill and financial aid See grades, etc. Without this no employee of Hofstra can speak to you regarding your student s account. ebill Authorized User- student must allow individuals to: see ebills make electronic payments Enroll in payment plans. Can add more than one authorized user IMPORTANT if you want to see semester invoices. No more paper invoices will be mailed by Hofstra over the next four years.

11 Hofstra is ebill Only All future bills are available through the ebill You will not receive another paper bill Authorized users and students (through Pride address) receive notification when new statements are available and can view and print statements Pride account SFS officially communicates through the student s Pride account The only other address we may communicate with is an Authorized User s address set up by the student

12 Billing-Payment Options Locked in Rate- hofstra.edu/lockedintuitionrate Planning tool to lock in consistent tuition for 8 semesters. Does not obligate you/student for 4 years of payment if student withdraws Completed form must be received prior to start of fall 2016 semester, 9/6/16 Please sign in all areas as requested To revoke election, send an to [email protected] prior to the start of the fall 2016 semester.

13 Billing-Payment Plan Option hofstra.edu/monthlypaymentplans Two options: Annual 5 payments per semester (Total of 10 payments for the year) One low fee paid in fall Enroll again for spring semester, but no fee. (An will be sent as a reminder to students and Authorized Users) Payments due 6/15-10/15 (and 11/15-3/15 for spring) Semester-based 4 payments per semester Fee paid each semester you enroll in the plan. Payments due 7/1-10/1 Estimate your amount needed in the plan. To change plan amounts, simply send an to [email protected] with the updated amount needed. Missed payments are due upon enrollment. Auto debit from your checking account or non-auto debit option. Non-auto requires you to submit your payment on or before the designated due date. Late payment fees will be assessed for any missed payments.

14 Dewar Tuition Refund Insurance hofstra.edu/tuitioninsurance Optional to cover tuition past the refund period Covers tuition costs only (Housing, Dining and Fees are not covered) 70% refund for injury, medical and mental health reasons Pay semester by semester $134 per semester To revoke your election, prior to the start of the semester for which you are enrolled. Fall 2016 begins 9/6/16. You must enroll/revoke on or before 9/5/16. Once the semester has begun, Hofstra cannot refund as we are required to pay the third party, A.W.G. Dewar.
