2 Classroom Teacher, Cariños Charter School, School Year , Española, New Mexico. My position as middle school teacher required teaching Language Arts, New Mexico History and United States History in Spanish and Language Arts in English. I worked with a team of teachers to prepare curriculum, plan for student testing and conduct regular classroom duties. I was also the administrator in charge of the after school program, and participated in school-wide planning and accreditation activities and assisted in the preparation of school documents and presentations for schools being monitored by NMPED under the new School Grading System. Dean, College of Education, Northern New Mexico College, Española, New Mexico, My position as Dean required oversight of several education programs including: BA in Elementary Education, AA in Early Childhood Education, AA in Elementary Education and Certification in Alternative Licensure. The entire department, including full time faculty and adjunct faculty, secretarial support, program advisors and coordinators are my responsibility. Curriculum, evaluation, gathering, aggregating, analyzing and data to implement programmatic changes and accreditation issues are dealt with by the office of the Dean. I was instrumental in developing the curriculum for the BA in Elementary Education in 2004 when NNMC was first approved to offer BA courses. The curriculum is relevant to the issues facing education in New Mexico. Teacher candidates take 21 credit hours of mathematics, 24 credit hours of science and have the credit hours in Language Arts and Social Studies to be deemed highly qualified by their district when they graduate. The College of Education has graduated 48 teachers in the BA program, 40 are Hispanic, 6 are Native American and 2 are other reflecting our community and our region. The placement rate for graduates is 98%. The College of Education team works to develop collaborative projects with internal and external entities in the regional education community including school districts, state councils, New Mexico Public Education Department and the New Mexico Higher Education Department. I have served as the chair of the NCATE committee at Santa Fe Community College and on the NM State NCATE Board of Reviewers at NM Institute of Mining and Technology, Western New Mexico University and Central New Mexico Community College. Science Education Specialist, Northern New Mexico Math and Science Academy, Los Alamos National Laboratory, I worked in a small team of three peers to provide comprehensive professional development for teachers in the areas of math, science and technology in northern New Mexico. This three year, standards-based program includes Summer Institutes where I taught pedagogy, classroom management, information and learning technology, learning and brain theory, teacher professional collaboration, instructional strategies and student motivation. I was a program developer for Math and Science Academy, a role that requires diplomacy, working with district personnel and teachers, working as a team member and relationship building among several groups. This team environment required initiative, creativity and resourcefulness. Initial and ongoing liaison with district administrators is essential for programmatic success. 2

3 I regularly reported on the effectiveness and mission of the program to funders including the NM Legislature, private business, and to our external evaluator, the University of California CRESST. I provided cognitive coaching and informal and formal observations for teachers during the school year. I worked as a member of a team that implemented complex initiatives on behalf of students and schools in northern New Mexico.
