Gheen, Jr., Fellowship was established to assist students, based on financial need, with severe family situations that have proved difficult for the applicant to further his/her education. Student should possess superior undergraduate academic records and demonstrate financial need. Criteria: 1) Foundation Year MSW student (full-time only). 2) Student must demonstrated superior undergraduate academic performance. 3) Student must demonstrate financial need. Amount: 1 award of $500 (Fall 2014); 2 awards of $500 (Spring 2015). 3 Linda M. Summer Social Work Pioneer Fellowship The Linda M. Summer Social Work Pioneer Fellowship was established to recognize outstanding academic performance, leadership, and social work practice. Criteria: 1( Advanced Standing, Advanced Year MSW student (full or part time), or PhD students. 2) Demonstration of outstanding academic performance, leadership, and social work practice. Amount: 3 awards of $500 (Fall 2014); 3 awards of $500 (Spring 2015). Notification: Awardees will be notified in August for the Fall 2014 deadline and in December for the Spring 2015 deadline via mail. Margaret Gheen Hartzog Memorial Dr. Rita Rhodes ritar@mailbox.sc.edu The Margaret Gheen Hartzog Memorial Fund was created to assist disabled students in the MSW or Ph.D programs. Criteria: 1)Advanced Standing, Foundation or Advanced year MSW student (full-time or part-time), or PhD student. 2) Must have a documented disability and be registered with the Office of Student Disability Services. Amount: $ Sarah and Sallie Campbell Youth and Family Endowment Fund Caryn Little littlec@mailbox.sc.edu The Sarah and Sallie Campbell Youth and Family Fund supports and MSW student whose academic and career focus is the mental health application of social work and service to youth and/or families. Preference will be given to a student(s) in the part-time program in Charleston, student(s) who lives in or is a native of the Pee Dee region or Charleston County and a student(s) who is a member of the National Association of Social Workers. Criteria: 1)Advanced Standing, Foundation or Advanced year MSW student (full-time or parttime) 2) focused on mental health applications and approaches for youth and/or families. Amount: 1 award of $500 (Fall 2014); 1 award of $500 (Spring 2015). 5 Tanya and Tom Carter Social Work Fellowship The Tanya and Tom Carter Social Work Fellowship was established to financially assist an MSW student with a field placement in the Upstate of South Carolina. Criteria: 1) Advanced Standing, Foundation or Advanced year MSW student (full-time or part-time). 2) Field placement must be in the Upstate during the academic year.
