SIGNIFICANCE OF ALLIED MUSIC TO THE NURSING CARE UNDER ACADEMICIANS PERSPECTIVE¹ ACTION REASERCH PEREIRA, Simone Barbosa²; OLIVEIRA, Angélica Rocha de³; MACHADO, Camila Correa³; REFOSCO, Anne Louise Marques³; SILVA, Mariana Moura da³; LAPORTA, Giuliano 4 ; MACHADO, Lucas de Souza 5 BACKES, Dirce Stein 6 ; ABSTRACT Music is capable of transform environments. The health professional should be increasingly aware of the situations in which to promote the welfare and comfort to users. Thus, the present study aimed to know the significance of song along to the nursing care from the perspective of academic members of Projeto Acordes Para Saúde. This is an action research, which for music sessions were conducted by nursing students, every fifteen days, in a period of two hours on patients in a mediumsized hospital in Santa Maria, RS. It is concluded that music is an excellent tool that is able to transcend expectations of the members of the group Acordes Para Saúde. INTRODUCTION It is understood that there is need for health professionals to upgrade not only with regard to the art of curative care, but also in interactive art and associative, which involves the subjectivity of human being. Thus, one can consider the arts an alternative music therapy care, which occupies, increasingly, an important role in different social spaces, especially in the hospital environment, where the prevailing, often, pain and suffering of people who, for a reason or another, had to leave home and family to deal with their health / illness. Major nursing theorists have advocated for many years that human beings should not be perceived only in its physical process, but as a singular and multidimensional, from their values, beliefs, culture and experiences significant¹. One of the theorists who makes it explicit that idea is Florence Nightingale, when he says that not only the physical comforts and soothes, but also the psychic environment influences the life and health of patients and families¹. With the desire to transcend the timely and careful technical and progress in search of new standards and technologies of care, more humanized, interactive and creative, we propose to seek alternative care through music in the hospital. Thus, this study aims to know the meaning of the song along with the nursing care from the perspective of academic members of Acordes para Saúde project. 2. METHODOLOGY This is an action research, conducted in a midsized hospital located in central region of Rio Grande do Sul State. The work is still ongoing, began in May 2010, based on the initiative of a group of students from the third semester of the Nursing Course of Centro Universitário Franciscano UNIFRA, more specifically from the discipline "Nursing Theories", encouraging them to transcend the technical and mechanical dimension of nursing care moving towards developing new technologies for nursing care. The music sessions were held on specific dates, alternating at times, lasting about two hours each meeting. 2
Initially, the songs sung at the initiative of academics in the project Acordes para Saúde were religiously inspired. Over time, the selection was becoming eclectic, as suggested by the patients and caregivers - which were accompanied by the instrument guitar and half-moon tambourine. The music sessions were observed for all hospital units, more specifically in the corridors of the hospital. The research data were collected soon after the music sessions, through recorded interviews in which the respondent voluntarily, the following questions: What does this moment mean to you? What are the feelings that music woke you? The data were organized and analyzed using thematic analysis, in which they were created categories of analysis². The research project was approved by the Ethics in Research UNIFRA under number 238/ RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Based on data collected after the music sessions, it was possible to realize the importance of caring for interactive and creative through music, providing the most diverse meanings and feelings to members of the project Chords for Health Feelings and meanings experienced was possible to realize the importance for the scholar, to be inserted in a project which goes beyond the classroom level, providing the member the ability to create, re (thinking) and say why not transform the environments wherever they go, leaving some of its characteristic. The data analysis resulted in two categories of analysis: Meaning attributed to participation in the project Chords for Health and Feelings experienced during the music sessions. 3.1 MEANINGS ATTACHED TO MUSIC IN HOSPITAL The meanings attributed to music in the hospital were the most diverse. The members expressed their well-being, joy, enthusiasm, innovation and possibility of transformation of care, as well as its well-being. Through the testimony becomes apparent that the academic environment is fertile ground for innovation and should be explored in order to seek new care technologies concomitant hospital humanization. 3
"Well, what about the Acordes Para Saúde but it really was everything I expected from a project like this, it was something that I long ago wanted to be, and now being one of the participants can feel how in practice this group is important... we can see the faces of patients, their smiles, they momentarily forget the pain of needles, medications with bad taste, the restrictions of which are submitted, all this is less difficult, is taken for granted, this is our requested this is our project, like this is that we make a difference. "A2 "Participating in the Acordes at the beginning, was a challenge on the grounds of time and so what to do, over time I became so involved that even saying that I will not go I cannot distance myself from that environment where you arrive with a singing nothing good voice and ends up making many people feel better and especially brings a smile to their faces... For me everything is wonderful made me think and see that things can be done different, often I'm fine shows me that my problems are nothing close to those people. "A4. "The project Acordes Para Saúde, to me, is the care extended and transformed in tones and chords of hope, of solidarity, of humanization and transformation." A5 It was evident, in the words that the meaning of music can transcend fatigue, personal concerns, affecting the emotional, mental and spiritual health of each member, to the extent that it can promote health and pleasant moments of personal achievement. Such actions are related to humanization hospital, especially in so far that stimulate new forms of care by means of connection, the links of confidence, to the reception of different situations and by measures which make the promoter care environment and life health³. 3.2 FEELINGS EXPERIENCED DURING MUSIC THERAPY SESSIONS 4
Feelings related to music sessions are linked to personal achievement, the opportunity to seek the new, using feelings as happiness, harmony, peace and well-being, as you can see in the statements. "Being a member of the project is a feeling hard to describe in words. We try to bring some of our joy, with music, and initially received a shy smile, that within seconds becomes an emotion that soaks into our hearts! Each musical note, we are transported to that moment where each family shines through his pain and that makes us important enough to show that yes, there is hope of wanting to keep trying. "I1 "This is an innovative and entrepreneurial... capable of causing tears and smiles move, capable of mobilizing feelings of childhood and adolescence, but also feelings of hope and transcendence. "I3. "Speaking of Acordes project for me is to speak of emotion processing because when I get there with the group, however tired I may be, get out of there with a sense of peace, energy recharged, and that's what makes it increasingly the more I get involved in this project "I4 There we have the perceptions that prompt the group to pursue his art of caring, learning and seeking constant stimulus to seek new allies in the care, shifting the exclusive focus of the disease, and directing it to the subjectivity of each human being. Therefore, the various actors within the scope of care need to be satisfied with themselves in order to participate in finding alternatives that have as their priority the welfare of both the other and of themselves, becoming more caring and humane to the others. 4. FINAL Through music realizes that there is the opportunity for academic star in new forms of care, using creativity and multidisciplinary approach, combining knowledge, in favor of the individual, shifting the focus from disease. A multidisciplinary approach should happen as a priority, as shown by the results there is the possibility of launching new perspectives in the context of care, overcoming the 5
fragmented view of human beings, given that each individual has their background beliefs and values which should be respected by many health professionals involved both in society and in the hospital. We conclude, therefore, that music is an important tool that facilitates communication and interaction between professionals and users, to promote an expanded and humanized care. REFERENCES 1.
