Degree College of Education The following plan is a guide for students who wish to begin their coursework at and transfer into the Exercise and Sport Science program offered by the College of Education at Wayne State University. No more than 64 hours from a two-year school will apply toward a Wayne State University degree, though all earned hours which transfer will be listed on the Wayne State University student record. 2 The Exercise and Sport Science Program A major in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise and Sport Science is for self-directed students with a specialized background for graduate-level study and professional work in the field of exercise and sport science. This major is basic to careers in such fields as adult fitness, corporate fitness, exercise physiology, athletic training, cardiac rehabilitation, and recreation and leisure; and it is a prerequisite to the necessary post-graduate study or additional certification requirements of the field. Exercise and Sport Science is a non-teaching major. The program for Exercise and Sport Science consists of University General Education Requirements (Competency Requirements and Group Requirements), College Requirements, and the Exercise and Sport Science major. Admission to the College of Education Admission to the College of Education at Wayne State University is based on two levels. If granted admission to Wayne State University, students that indicated their intent to pursue a program in the College of Education on the application for undergraduate admission are admitted directly to Level 1. Students at this level are working to fulfill University General Education requirements, College of Education requirements, and any additional requirements for admission to Level 2. Students at Level 1 also begin taking courses in their teaching major and minor. Admission to Level 2 requires a separate application, available in room 469 of the College of Education or online at: A student does not complete a Level 2 application until all Level 2 requirements have been fulfilled. Admission to Level 2 is not competitive: students that meet all requirements will be admitted. Students in Level 2 have access to the Professional Education Sequence, which may be completed in two years. Most students begin Level 2 during the junior year.

Transfer credits awarded at Wayne State University are equal to the number of credits awarded at the transferring institution. Unless otherwise noted, please select one course to fulfill each requirement. If two courses are listed together with a + sign, then both courses are required to fulfill the single requirement. In meeting Group Requirements, please note that a given Wayne State University subject area code (eg., ANT, HIS, PS, etc.) may not be used more than twice, that a course must be at least three semester hours to meet the requirement, and that courses may not be taken on a pass/fail basis.
