1 UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI ST. LOUIS & ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRANSFER GUIDE This Guide is intended for the use of prospective transfer students to the University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) who plan on attending the St. Louis Community College (STLCC) in order to complete their UMSL General Education requirements without the completion of an Associate in Arts degree. Please read this document in its entirety as all information given is critical. For more information on UMSL s General Education Program, please visit our online Course Catalog: This guide is intended for use under advisement of an STLCC Academic Advisor or UMSL Transfer Coordinator and is not considered to be substitution of such advisement. How to Use this Guide Listed here are the requirements of the UMSL General Education Program as well similar general-education-like requirements that are common to most UMSL baccalaureate degree programs. Each of the lists in this Guide corresponds with one of these general education requirements and is comprised of STLCC courses that fulfill the UMSL requirement. Blank spaces have been provided before each list with check boxes to allow a student to plan and organize their STLCC coursework towards the completion of these requirements. Numbers listed in parentheses after specific course titles on this Guide reflect the number of credit hours earned by completion of that course. For any questions regarding this guide please contact the UMSL Office of Transfer Services, part of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at (314) General Education 42 Hours Required All UMSL students must complete UMSL s General Education Program. This program is comprised of 42 hours of coursework structured into 6 educational Goals. Each Goal requires a certain number of credit hours to be selected from a specific list of UMSL courses. A student must fulfill the requirements of each Goal by successfully completing its requisite number of hours. A course may appear on more than one list and therefore may satisfy the requirements of more than one Goal. Any course that is listed in Bold appears on more than one list in this guide After a student has satisfied the specific requirements of each of the 6 General Education Goals, they must also complete a total of 42 hours of General Education coursework to include those that satisfied the Goals. These 42 hours may only be satisfied by courses appearing on the lists of any of the 6 Goals. This Transfer Guide was last reviewed or updated on 07/2012 P a g e 1
