6 GRAPHIC DESIGN MANAGEMENT REGIONAL PROGRAM The Graphic Design Management Program is one of the two regional programs offered at Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School. It is one of two high school programs of its kind offered in Canada. Graphic Design Management (aka flexography) is a rapidly growing package printing process with a very high demand for managers, structural designers, graphic designers, ink chemists, accountants and press operators. Gordon Graydon offers this challenging technology-based program to students in the Peel District School Board. Our students will acquire specific qualifications required to pursue this field beyond high school. Flexography is a 150 billion dollar per year industry focusing on "flexible packaging" such as cardboard boxes, plastic bags and labels. Other products of the flexographic process include magazines, newspapers, paper towels and paper cups. Students who complete their certification in Graphic Design Management typically choose a pathway to Ryerson University's exclusive 4-year Graphic Communications Management program, to Graphic Design program at York University, to a 2- year Packaging program at Mohawk College or to employment in the industry immediately after graduation. Students will gain valuable experience in all aspects of the industry including the design and production of items specific to industry standards. Students in Peel and the surrounding area may apply in grade 9, 10 or 11. Students in all programs are eligible to enroll in a Specialist High Skills Major. 7 INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY REGIONAL PROGRAM The International Business Technology Program is one of the two regional programs offered at Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School. The International, Business and Technology (IBT) Program is an innovative program which enriches and extends the secondary school curriculum to prepare students for the challenges of an increasingly complex world. In grades nine and ten, IBT students receive a solid foundation in international studies, business and technology courses. During their senior years, students may choose courses that lead to specialization in one of the three areas or continue to develop a broad perspective by continuing to study a variety of subjects. With the co-operation of the community and business partners, students are engaged in educational experiences which provide them with a competitive edge in a global market. Our business partners play an important role in the development and maintenance of the IBT Program by enhancing students learning and preparing them for future employment. In return, corporate partners benefit as our students graduate with 21 st century employability skills. Students in the Gordon Graydon boundary may apply in grade 9 to the IBT program. Students in all programs are eligible to enroll in a Specialist High Skills Major.
