Agreement on criteria for pay supplements Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences The criteria for pay supplements at the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences have been agreed within the framework of the overall catalogue for agreements on pay supplements for academic staff at the School of Business and Social Sciences who are covered by a collective agreement. The points in which the local agreement differs from the overall BSS staff salary catalogue are marked with an asterisk in the headline and are written in red. All supplements for qualifications and responsibilities in the catalogue are stated as annual base amounts at 31 March 2012 level. Supplements for qualifications and responsibilities are pensionable and paid monthly in arrears together with the employee's pay. The size of the supplements for qualifications and responsibilities may vary within the maximum amount specified. Within the maximum limit, supplements can be negotiated as either one or several smaller sums or as an aggregate amount. Supplements for qualifications: and sizes Supplements for qualifications are granted on the basis of a special, defined qualitative and quantitative contribution to research and teaching which, supports the overall strategy of the main academic area, including the individual departments. In order to be considered for a supplement for qualifications, the employee must demonstrate his/her commitment and ability to handle organisational and administrative tasks. Furthermore, employees who may be considered for the supplement are also able to cooperate with their colleagues in a way that contributes to the continued development of the academic environment of the individual department and main academic area. Research activities comprise peer-reviewed written work such as articles in journals and collections, notes and comments in journals, books/proceedings and conference papers as well as book editing. Written work that has not been subject to an actual peer review, but stands out because of its communicativeness or inclusion into commission reports etc. will also qualify for the supplement. Teaching activities include teaching and student guidance at BA/BSc, MA/MSc and PhD level, establishment of new teaching areas and subjects and the development of teaching methods. A supplement for qualifications may also be granted for formal authorisation and specialist approval. Granted supplements for qualifications will cease if the employee changes job category. Supplements for qualifications are generally permanent unless otherwise agreed. Research assistant The supplement may be granted to research assistants who have made a special contribution and whose work is characterised by excellence. The supplement is granted for extraordinary The supplement can be paid out in smaller sums of DKK 5,000 up to a total of DKK 20,000.

performance during the employment period. Assistant professor/postdoc The supplement can be granted to assistant professors/postdocs who have made a special contribution and whose work is characterised by excellence. The supplement is granted for extraordinary performance during the employment period. The supplement can be paid out in smaller sums of DKK 5,000 up to a total of DKK 20,000. Associate professor/senior researcher In addition to position-related supplements, associate professors/senior researchers may be granted the following types of supplements for qualifications: Associate professor A, B and C supplement. In addition to this, a special M supplement may be granted. The purpose of granting supplements for qualifications is to retain qualified associate professors and to provide a financial incentive for the continued development of the employee's research and teaching as well as administrative qualifications and competences. In order to move from an A to a B supplement, the A supplement framework amount must be fully utilised. Likewise, the B supplement framework amount must be fully utilised before a C supplement can be granted. It is possible to grant several supplements simultaneously. *Associate professor A supplement The associate professor A supplement can be granted to associate professors whose research, education and knowledge sharing activities have a scope and quality that at least corresponds to the performance required for awarding the associate professorship. Furthermore, it is a condition that the employee's performance with regard to dissemination and administrative duties is and has been adequate. Staff are eligible to apply for the supplement after 1 year s seniority at associate professor level. The supplement may be granted as an aggregate amount; however, it is commonly divided into portions of DKK 15,000. It is commonly expected of associate professors at the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences to have reached an appropriate academic level over a period of 4 years, such that they meet the criteria for obtaining the aggregate associate professor supplement A of DKK 45,000. *Associate professor B supplement The associate professor B supplement can be granted to associate professors who perform research, education and knowledge sharing activities that over a period of several years demonstrate continued professional development that exceeds the basis for granting the A supplement. The supplement may be granted as an aggregate amount; however, it is commonly divided into portions of DKK 20,000. A total amount of up to DKK 40,000 may be granted. Furthermore, it is a condition that the employee

is doing his/her share of the administrative work and has done for some time. *Associate professor C supplement The associate professor C supplement can be granted to associate professors whose research, education and knowledge sharing activities have a scope and quality that significantly exceed the performance required for awarding the associate professorship and thus what is normally expected of associate professors at BSS. Examples: - Several research publications of particularly high quality - New development of teaching activities - Attraction of external research funding - Innovation within the field of knowledge sharing. amount or as smaller sums of a minimum of DKK 20,000. A total amount of up to DKK 55,000 may be granted. Associate professors who have been qualified as full professor or have obtained a doctoral degree that meets the requirements set by Aarhus University may also qualify for an associate professor C supplement. Professorships with special responsibilities and temporary ordinary professorships In order to attract and retain highly talented researchers and develop a successful academic area of an international standard, fixed-term professorships with special responsibilities and fixed-term ordinary professorships are advertised. A professor with special responsibilities is paid a base salary according to the base pay scale set under the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. In addition, a pensionable supplement is granted under the job structure which at BSS has been agreed at DKK 225,000 (annual base amount). A professor with special responsibilities is paid such that the total net pay is on a par with that of a professor in pay grade 37 (incl. professor A supplement). No further supplements for qualifications can be granted to a professor with special responsibilities; however, see item 1.6. Professors with special responsibilities are employed and remunerated as associate professors after the end of their employment period, and the special responsibility supplement thus ceases. A professor employed on a fixed-term contract is placed in pay grade 37. In addition, only a professor A supplement is granted; however, see possibility for M supplement. Employees in ordinary, fixed-term professorships who have agreed to revert to an associate professorship when their employment period expires are placed in the base pay scale set under the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on expiry of the employment period.

On reverting to an associate professorship, supplements are negotiated locally, but associate professor A and B supplements are guaranteed, though. Professor Professors are placed in pay grade (PG) 37. In addition to a professor A supplement, professors can be granted the following B and C supplements and a temporary M supplement. Professor A supplement A professor A supplement is automatically granted upon appointment as professor. DKK 51,400 Professor B supplement The professor C supplement can be granted to professors whose research, education and knowledge sharing activities have a scope and quality that over a period of several years demonstrate continued professional development that exceeds the conditions for awarding the professorship. amount or as smaller sums of a minimum of DKK 10,000. A total amount of up to DKK 35,000 may be granted. Professor C supplement The professor C supplement can be granted to professors whose research, education and knowledge sharing activities significantly exceed the performance required for awarding the professorship and thus what is normally expected of professors at BSS. Examples: - Several research publications of particularly high quality - Development of teaching activities - Attraction of external research funding - Innovation within the field of knowledge sharing. amount or as smaller sums of a minimum of DKK 15,000. A total amount of up to DKK 50,000 may be granted. Special temporary supplement for qualifications (M supplement) In special cases, an M supplement can be granted to individual employees at associate professor and professor level who are making a documented and extraordinary contribution within research, education and knowledge sharing. The supplement is granted on the basis of a concrete individual assessment, which is based on

the employee's motivated application and the head of department's recommendation. Granting is based on the head of department's recommendation to the dean. amount or as smaller sums of a minimum of DKK 25,000. A total amount of up to DKK 100,000 may be granted. The supplement is temporary and can be granted for a maximum of 4 years. The supplement ceases without further notice at the expiry of the period. *Authorisation and specialist qualification A supplement for qualifications may be granted to staff who have achieved professional authorisation or specialist training. The size of the supplement is typically in accordance with the supplements agreed with the State about authorisation and specialist training in accordance with the Danish Psychological Association s catalogue: Salary, rates and speaking fees (Løn, takster og Honorarer). The supplement is awarded for one year at a time and is subject to the condition that the qualifications are applied in solving current work assignments, i.e. research or teaching, for which the authorisation or supervisor/specialist training is of crucial importance, e.g. conducting clinical interventions or supervision of psychologists. Supplements for responsibilities: and sizes Supplements for responsibilities are granted to employees with responsibilities entitling them to such supplement under a specific agreement. Supplements for responsibilities are granted to the extent that the responsibilities do not already result in supplements under current regulations, including central collective agreements, circulars etc. The supplement for responsibilities is only granted as long as the responsibilities are undertaken and cease without further notice when the responsibilities end, though no later than on the agreed end date. for function supplements: Deputy head of department, centre director, director of studies for day studies, programme coordinator, union representative, see BSS overall salary catalogue. *Section manager /description of responsibilities A supplement for responsibilities is granted for undertaking the function of section manager. At the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, you function as a section manager, as chairman of an academic group and as head of a research unit if the group holds at least 5 tenured academic staff members. The size of the supplement is determined following an individual assessment, which may emphasise the scope and breadth of the research group. amount or as smaller sums of a minimum of DKK 15,000. A total amount of up to DKK 60,000 may be granted. Kommentar [LMM1]: Sætningen på dansk er noget uklar: På Psykologisk Institut fungerer man som sektionsleder, som faggruppeformand og som ledere af forskningsenheder med minimum 5 ansatte VIP.

The dean approves section managers. The section manager reports to the head of department. The function involves academic management responsibility for a teaching group or a research unit. The granting of such supplements that are not mentioned in the pay agreement catalogue requires permission from the dean. *One-time bonuses One-time bonuses may be granted for extraordinary contributions within research, education, knowledge dissemination or handling of administrative tasks. The criterion for the bonus is that the

contribution must help to fulfil BSS's strategy and goal in an extraordinary way. The one-time bonus is granted following a concrete individual assessment. Agreements on the granting of supplements must be signed by the union representative and the head of department. For example, a one-time bonus may be granted on account of the employee having secured external funding. The size of the amount is stated at the current level, and the one-time bonus is not pensionable. At the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences it has been agreed in advance that an annual one-time bonus will be granted for the following administrative activities: - Board of studies: DKK 15,000 - PhD enrolment committee DKK 15,000 - Academic Council DKK 10,000 - Laboratory committee: DKK 2,500 Moreover, it has been agreed that a fixed one-time bonus may be granted under the following conditions: - Higher doctoral dissertation DKK 30,000 - Employees who attract more teaching and research grants to the department. If the employee has made extraordinary efforts beyond this, it is possible to negotiate a bonus increase; however, not exceeding DKK 30,000. - Participation in assigned, qualifying continuing education courses that entail an extraordinary workload, if the course has a minimum scope of 60 working hours (e.g. supervisor courses for associate professors and professors). The bonus amounts to DKK 10,000 per course. Moreover, it is possible to negotiate a one-time bonus for taking on special functions and/or for extraordinary efforts in support of the main objectives of the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences and Aarhus University. A statement explaining the size and reason for the onetime bonus will be released internally.
