Managing MSDE with TOAD When planning to install exchange@pam an empty database with a database user must be created prior. The supported Database Providers are MS SQL Server 2000/2005 or MSDE and Oracle 8x and 9x. When MS SQL Server 2000 or 2005 is not available, installing MSDE for a small organization is also supported. After the MSDE is installation conclude you will need to reboot your machine to be able to start your MS SQL. To be able to administer your MSDE you can use the latest version of TOAD from www.toadsoft.com Please follow the steps described under in order install TOAD and use it to create an empty database for exchange@pam and a database user. - Running the setup of TOAD will display the followind dialog in the configuration wizard: H&S Heilig und Schubert Software AG Seite 1/12
- On this dialog select Tabbed and then click Next. On the following dialog click Next again. - On the followind dialog you can choose whether the connection dialog will be displayed at startup or not. After the setup of TOAD finishes, please run the application to start administering your MSDE. - Provide the SQL server name, select SQL Server Authentication from the drop-down menu, choose the login to be sa, leave the password field empty and then to select your database click the browse button. - Once the connection oppened, you will see the following window. You can create a new database for exchange@pam from the Create\Database menu on the toolbar H&S Heilig und Schubert Software AG Seite 5/12
- Give the database a name and let sa as to be the login for the moment. Of course, choose the path to your transition logs and data files if need to change the default destination. Conclude by clicking OK. H&S Heilig und Schubert Software AG Seite 6/12
- once created you will see your new database if you will switch over to the databases tab. The owner for it now is sa. We will need to create another one. H&S Heilig und Schubert Software AG Seite 7/12

- Select the SQL Server Authentication radio-button, give the new login a name and a password (IT MUST NOT BE BLANCK) and select the new database from the drop-down menu (exchangedb the one you have previously created) H&S Heilig und Schubert Software AG Seite 9/12
