Stay in control and enjoy competitive rates Maybe you re saving for a new car, a home, or that overseas trip you ve always wanted. You could be looking at a range of investment options for the longer term or just wanting somewhere to park your money for now. Whatever your situation, you ll want the best interest rate you can get. The National offers a range of solutions.

Comparing the options How much flexibility do you need? Do you need immediate access to your money? Do you want to lock in a competitive interest rate? To help you make your decision, this table highlights the key features you may want to consider. National Smart Reward Saver and National Smart Junior Saver have been designed to help you develop good savings habits. They pay bonus interest whenever you make at least one deposit and don t make a withdrawal in the month. If you are after a high variable interest rate, easy access to your money and the convenience of National Internet Banking and National Telephone Banking, the National isaver might suit you. National Term Deposits and National Fixed Income Bonds are fixed term investments offering a fixed interest rate that may be higher than for at-call accounts. You ll know exactly what the returns will be and when you ll get them. 1 Account pays base interest and bonus interest. Bonus interest is paid when there is at least one deposit in a month and no withdrawals in the same month. 2 National Smart Direct account monthly account service fee applies when there are two or more monthly withdrawals. 3 Account for customers under eighteen (18) years of age. Helping you to start saving National Smart Reward Saver If you want to get into saving mode, National Smart Reward Saver is an ideal place to start. To encourage saving, it pays a bonus rate of interest, regardless of the balance of your account, whenever you make at least one deposit and don t make a withdrawal in the month.* To get you there as fast as possible, you won t be charged for making deposits and interest is calculated daily. You can access your money, when you need it, at any National branch, via National Telephone Banking or National Internet Banking. We ll even let you make one free withdrawal per month without charging any transaction fees. If you do make more than one withdrawal a monthly account service fee may apply. *To receive the bonus interest, the deposit must be received at least one business day before the last business day of the month.

National Smart Junior Saver National Smart Junior Saver is the ideal way to teach your kids how to save. Designed to encourage saving, it is the perfect place for birthday money, extra pocket money and Christmas gifts. The account offers bonus interest, which is calculated daily. To further encourage the savings habit, that bonus interest rate only applies during those months when they make at least one deposit and don t make a withdrawal.* However, they can make as many deposits as they like without affecting the bonus interest rate. And there are no transaction fees while your kids are under 18. *To receive the bonus interest, the deposit must be received at least one business day before the last business day of the month.

A simpler way to save money online National isaver If you are saving towards a goal or just want to get a great return on your money the National isaver can help. You get a high variable interest rate and easy access to your money whenever you need it. The National isaver makes saving simpler. Your National isaver is used in conjunction with your National transaction account. You move money from your transaction account into your National isaver and earn high interest. You can even set up a regular transfer from your transaction account into your National isaver account to help you reach your savings goal faster. When you need to access your money you move it back into your transaction account your money is available immediately. It s that easy. You can access your account 24/7 through National Internet Banking and National Telephone Banking. You earn the same high interest rate, whether you save a little or a lot. Interest is calculated daily and paid monthly. There are no account or transaction fees on your National isaver you can make as many deposits or withdrawals as you like. There is no minimum deposit or balance so you can start saving today.

How much, for how long? It s up to you National Term Deposits With a National Term Deposit, you lock in an amount at a guaranteed interest rate for a fixed time. You can choose from terms ranging from just seven days through to two years. You know exactly what the return will be and you choose when you receive your interest. For investments under 12 months, interest is paid at the end of the term. For term deposits over 12 months, you can receive your interest monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly. For security, the interest can be directly credited to your nominated National account. Or you can receive it as a bank cheque or in cash. If you want to re-invest the interest, it can simply be added to your National Term Deposit at maturity. If you don t let us know what you d like to do before the term deposit matures, the investment will automatically be renewed for the same term at the current interest rate. That way, it will keep earning interest for you. What if something unexpected happens and you need your money back before the term ends? You can withdraw funds from your National Term Deposit before it matures; however, the National may reduce the interest earned on the deposit but never by more than the interest accrued.

National Term Deposit trade up Would you like the ability to capitalise on a rise in interest rates, if there is one? With a minimum of $5,000, you can open a two-year National Term Deposit that lets you switch to a higher interest rate during the term. You can do this just once at any time except during the last seven days of the term and to a maximum 3% interest rate rise. And, if you have surplus funds at that time, you can top up your term deposit for even greater returns. How it works Say you invest for a fixed term of two years at 6% p.a. Then, after 14 months, interest rates rise. You have 10 months remaining on your term. For a 10-month term deposit of a corresponding amount and the same interest payment terms, the National now offers you 7% p.a. In this scenario, you can trade up to 7% p.a. for the remainder of your term. This means your total earnings would be 6% p.a. for the first 14 months and 7% p.a. for the last 10 months. Rates 6% p.a. 7% p.a. 0 14 24 Months

Assured returns, with access to all your funds National Fixed Income Bonds With a National Fixed Income Bond, you can access your funds if you want to. So, if you re a longerterm investor wanting a regular, secure income, you have financial certainty with a high degree of flexibility. You can choose terms from 12 months to 10 years and lock in an amount between $5,000 and $500,000 at a competitive fixed rate. There s a choice of how often you receive your income monthly, quarterly or annually. For terms of two years or more, you can earn compound interest. There are no bank fees, but Government taxes may apply. Interest payments may be directly credited to your nominated account in the name of the bond-holder or a bank cheque can be made out you choose what s more convenient. You can redeem some or all of your bond at any time, with a minimum repurchase amount of $2,500. We don t charge you any fees for repurchasing the bond from you. Any interest due on the sum is paid at the agreed fixed rate. However, to compensate for any changes in wholesale interest rates since you invested, your principal amount will be adjusted. If you are considering investing in a National Fixed Income Bond, it may be appropriate for you to discuss your longer-term investment alternatives with a National Financial Planner*.
