Associate of Science Paralegal Studies Why Paralegal Studies? According to the U.S. Department of Labor s Occupational Outlook Handbook, the paralegal profession is projected to grow much faster than average as paralegals increasingly perform many tasks formerly carried out by lawyers. In addition, employers are increasingly seeking to hire graduates of post-secondary paralegal programs. Because the Associate of Science in Paralegal Studies degree provides a strong base of business courses, graduates will be well prepared to manage the business aspects of a law office in addition to handling legal tasks. The program, housed at Venango College of Clarion University, offers a two-year degree that will transfer directly into any of the four-year degree programs offered by Clarion s College of Business Administration. The Pennsylvania average paralegal salary is currently $51,720 with expected job growth of 18 percent through 2016. A real estate program, much of which can be completed at Venango College or online, offers students a four-year legal business studies concentration option. The concentration focuses on real estate and business law courses important to law offices practicing real property law. The baccalaureate is an excellent law school preparatory program. Graduates from the program will be unique in that they will have dual credentials. The associate degree in paralegal studies is approved by the American Bar Association and the bachelor s degree in real estate is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. 3 www.clarion.edu/venango 877-VENANGO
