In 2014, Samford reached the finals of the SoCon Tournament for the third time in the last four years, narrowly falling to Georgia Southern. At the conclusion of the 2013 season, Dunn s team produced the first player in school history to be drafted in the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft when center fielder Phillip Ervin was selected by the Cincinnati Reds.
