Configure a NEC PBX Goal Provide a reference to NEC Solutions Providers and customers for configuring a NEC UX5000 to connect to a Broadvox SIP Interconnect utilizing a Dynamic configuration. The different devices can be configured in various configurations depending on your VoIP solution. This document covers the standard supported configurations. Prerequisites SIP trunking information provided by Broadvox: Primary, SIP proxy server IP address Numbering Plan, if applicable for Point-to-Point connection. NEC UX5000 Setup Follow the UX5000 Feature and Programming Manuals and or Networking Manual for more detailed information on feature-specific settings. The following are PC Programming images taken from an active UX5000 while interfaced with Nortel SIP Service. This document will provide guidance for a Static SIP Trunk Configuration on the UX5000 communications server. The images which are provide should be used only as a guide. For network specific information consult your Network Administrator and Internet Telephony Service Provider. Configuring the UX5000 for BroadVox SIP Trunking Service Blade Configuration The minimum blade configuration is shown below. The UX5000 should have a CCPU that is licensed for SIP trunks, a 32, 64, or 128 VOIPDB for VoIP, and a MEMDB to make all 200 trunks available to the UX5000. - 5 -
CCPU Network setup The UX5000 must be configured for network connectivity specific to your network environment. In this example, the UX5000 is configured with a public IP address and gateway; however it may also be set behind a NAT router with appropriate port forwarding or by using the NAPT feature of the UX5000 - V3.00 main software or above is required for NAPT. The UX5000 should be reset after making these changes. - 6 -

VOIPDB DSP Basic Setup Assign IP addresses to the DSP resources; these will be used to pass RTP (voice) to and from the SIP trunk user. - 8 -
IP Trunk Availability Enable IP trunk support for the system (license required) and assign the number of trunks to be used. Please check with your SIP trunk provider for details on how many trunks will be provided. - 9 -
Trunk Groups Verify the trunk group settings for the SIP trunks. Incoming Call Trunk Setup Set all SIP trunks to DID in all modes that they will be used. - 10 -
IP System Interconnection Setup When using static endpoint connection, use this program to point all leading digits that will be dialed to the IP address given by the provider. NOTE: Program 10-29 is not used with static endpoint SIP trunks. SIP System Information Setup This information is provided by the SIP trunk carrier and is specific to each account. This information should be input when using static and dynamic SIP trunks. - 11 -
SIP Server Information Setup This information is used with Dynamically Registered Endpoint trunks only. The registrar IP address is the address given by the provider. The default SIP port should remain 5060. Register mode is changed to manual. DNS mode is turned on. Outbound default proxy is turned on. The DNS IP address will be specific to your network. The registrar domain name must be a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) in order to work properly. SIP carrier choice is set to carrier B. Register sub mode needs to be unchecked after setting carrier choice. - 12 -
SIP Authentication Information Setup This information is used to authenticate the SIP trunk to the provider s server. This program is used with static and dynamic SIP trunks, dynamic trunks will have a password static trunks normally will not. SIP Trunk Basic Setup This program changes the setup of the SIP message. Program 84-14-09 must be changed to To Header to allow the UX5000 to route calls based on different patterns received in the SIP message. - 13 -
Initial Testing and Troubleshooting Initial Test Plans: If you run into an issue with any of these tests, consult the troubleshooting chart below: 1. Test an Outbound call to a Local Number. Check for Ringback, 2-way Audio, and Quality. 2. Test an Outbound call to a Long Distance Number. Check for Ringback, 2-way Audio, and Quality. 3. Test an Outbound call to an International Number. Check for Ringback, 2-way Audio, and Quality. 4. Test a Long Outbound call past 15 minutes. 5. Test multiple call concurrencies on Outbound calls. Set up multiple calls to PSTN. 6. Test an Outbound Call to Operator 0. 7. Test an Outbound Call to Directory Assistance 411. 8. Test a 911 Call. (PLEASE IDENTIFY TO THE OPERATOR THAT THIS IS A TEST!!!!!) 9. Test an Inbound call to an internal DID. Check for Ringback, 2-way Audio, and Quality. 10. Test an Inbound call to Auto-Attendant. Check DTMF and Audio Quality. 11.
