2015 Testimonials A fantastic event to meet with the key participants in the Japanese solar industry. (Division, Macquarie Capital) A space for high-grade discussion among fellow professionals. (Business Japan, AquaSoli Mega Solar Engineering) Professionally extremely well done. (, Mathyos) A very valuable event that will help to shape the large-scale solar-plant business in Japan. (, NexPV) Networking everywhere, never experienced at any other conference. (Omron) The programme was comprehensive and the event defines current status, problems and issues, and future visions of PV. (Research & Development, Mitsui Chemicals) I was able to get the current status and opinions from a wide range of experts related to PV at the same time. (Deputy Senior, Shinsei Bank) Solar Asset Management Asia Wrap-Up The conference introduced a mix of topics relatively new to the Japanese solar market: from O&M and asset management to secondary market and stock-listing of PV funds. Like the events in Europe and the US, we believe that this conference will drive the second stage of the PV market in Japan and APAC, with a strong focus on the operational phase of PV plants and portfolios, rather than on upfront and construction issues. A number of elements make the Japanese PV market one of the most interesting in the world: The electricity market reform which will shake up the market and result in new challenges but also opportunities for PV Decreasing FIT levels, as we have seen all over the world A huge installed capacity (roughly 18 GW) but also a very strong pipeline of another X GWs Increasing involvement and opportunities for international investors and PV companies Grid constraints which cause uncertainty and call for new ideas and solutions, such as storage Furthermore, the installed large-scale plants are today generally 1-2 years old at the most. This means that the phase during which issues come up and the need for O&M and asset management becomes more recognised is just about to start, presenting huge opportunities for domestic and international companies specialised in these services.
