National Flood Insurance Reauth. Signed into law with the Surface Transportation Authorization Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 Reauthorized until 2017 (5 years) Includes several reforms, such as: Establishes a technical council of experts to review and set the standards on the accuracy of floodplain maps Creates a National Flood Mapping Program and establishes a process for local communities to request a remapping and requires communication and outreach to affected communities and members of Congress

Public Safety Broadband Network President signed law on 2/22/12 that allocated the D- Block spectrum to public safety Provide interoperability among first responders & public safety officials $7B to help build the network - Public Safety Trust Fund identifying, planning and implementing Creation of First Responder Network Authority to manage the network DHS Office of Emergency Communications is working with the Departments of Commerce and Justice on this effort
