Section 1 Preface Introduction This guide provides the information needed to set up the CommVault Galaxy Backup and Recovery software to work with Stonefly Network s IP SAN solution, the Storage Concentrator, to provide disk-to-disk backup. When the Storage Concentrator is coupled with the CommVault Galaxy Backup and Recovery software, a disk-to-disk backup solution is created that enables the CommVault Galaxy Backup and Recovery software to back up server-attached storage to the Storage Concentrator s logical volumes across an IP SAN network or a standard IP network. Restoring data from IP SAN logical volumes to the server-attached storage is seamlessly accomplished using the CommVault Galaxy Backup and Recovery software. This guide contains information to help you: Back up from an internal disk to the IP SAN volumes Restore from the IP SAN volumes to Media Agent volumes Users After completing the steps in this guide, proceed to the Storage Concentrator User s Guide. Refer to Section 2 Using the Administrative Interface for information on how to efficiently and effectively manage data storage, data protection, and data delivery on your network. This guide is intended to be used by network administrators and assumes an understanding of: Local area networks (LAN) Ethernet and Ethernet-switching concepts Storage area networking (SAN) StoneFly Network s Storage Concentrator IP SAN software CommVault Galaxy Backup and Recovery software 1
