INTERNATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY AGENCY (IAEA) Technical Meeting on Advances in Exploration Techniques for Uranium Deposits and Other Radioactive Element Deposits 1-4 September 2014 IAEA Headquarters, Vienna, Austria INFORMATION SHEET I. INTRODUCTION The purpose of the Technical Meeting is to provide a forum for experts from Member States to discuss recent advances in exploration techniques for uranium deposits and other radioactive element deposits. The Technical Meeting will aim to provide an international forum for presentation and discussion of a variety of exploration and evaluation techniques, particularly in regards to discovery of uranium ore deposits and other radioactive element deposits (e.g. rare earth element deposits). The emphasis will be on geophysical and geochemical techniques and novel and new approaches for the analysis, interpretation and collection of data. Presentation of case studies from both academia and industry and original research are encouraged. The target participants of the Technical Meeting are professionals engaged in uranium exploration, resource evaluation and production, researchers, energy planners and officials interested in uranium resources from Member States. A team of expert consultants will present recent papers on the topic and assist in guiding discussions during the meeting. The Technical Meeting (TM) will be held at the IAEA Headquarters, Vienna, Austria. II. TOPICS In addition to invited presentations, delegate contributions, as PowerPoint slide presentations are invited on the following topics; Geophysical techniques and their application to exploration and evaluation of uranium and other radioactive element deposits. Geochemical techniques and their application to exploration and evaluation of uranium and other radioactive element deposits Novel and new approaches for the analysis, interpretation and collection of data Presentations of case studies and original research are encouraged.

III. PARTICIPATION Each person wishing to participate in the meeting is requested to complete the attached Participation Form (Form A) indicating whether he/she intends to present a paper, and to send this form to the IAEA through the competent official authority by 16 June 2014. Participants are encouraged to contribute to the meeting by presenting a paper on the topic of Advanced Exploration Techniques within the context of item II Topics. The presentations should have a duration of approximately 20 minutes and it is preferred that they are prepared in MS PowerPoint format. Contributed presentations should be prepared in English and accompanied by a brief written abstract, both of which should be submitted in an electronic version to the scientific secretary prior to the meeting (Deadline is 16 June 2014). V. VENUE The meeting will be held at Agency Headquarters in the Vienna International Centre (VIC), Wagramer Strasse 5, 1400 Vienna, Austria. Participants are advised to arrive one hour prior to the convening time of the meeting to allow for timely registration. Please note that you must present an official photo identification document in order to be admitted to the VIC premises. VI. VISA ARRANGEMENTS Participants are also advised that they may require a valid passport and Schengen visa for entry into Austria. Accordingly, it would be advisable to begin the immediate preparation of travel arrangements and necessary authorizations. Please advise the Secretariat as soon as possible if a formal invitation letter is needed in order to facilitate the visa request. We recommend that you apply for visa in a timely manner, if necessary.

The IAEA is generally not in a position to bear the travel and other costs of participants in the training meeting/workshop. The IAEA has, however, limited funds at its disposal to help meet the cost of attendance of certain participants. Such assistance may be offered upon specific request to normally one participant per country provided that, in the IAEA s view, the participant on whose behalf assistance is requested will make an important contribution to the training meeting/workshop. The application for financial support should be made at the time of nominating the participant. It should be noted that compensation is not payable by the IAEA for any damage to or loss of personal property. The IAEA also does not provide health insurance coverage for participants in meetings, workshops or training courses or for consultants. Arrangements for private insurance coverage on an individual basis should therefore be made. The IAEA will, however, provide insurance coverage for accidents and illnesses that clearly result from any work performed for the IAEA. VIII. WORKING LANGUAGE The working language of the meeting will be English. All communications, abstracts, and papers must be sent in English.
