BIM lab A Knowledge Center for Building Information Modelling Jacob Steen Møller, PhD, Director Technical University of Denmark
BIM in Denmark State of the art, BIM in Denmark: Jan. 1, 2007: Digital Construction s Clients Demands states that governmental projects > 40 M. DKK. shall be exercised in a reduced BIM concept Several companies (especially consulting firms) have made a strategic plan for using BIM working methods in the future. They have already experiences in the field, ex. Ramboll/Henning Larsen congress Center in Reykjavik The majority of firms are still working in a traditional working method based on 2D drawing and document. However the development is going fast towards a 3D objectoriented working methods

BIM lab A project focusing on: Actual realization of integrated modelling Identify critical development tasks Inspire research and development Relation to Digital Construction, implementation network: Public Clients Demands The Digital Foundation, industry standard Activities: Establishing a Center Software and hardware Making Building Models Testing Building Models and Simulations Education and Training Simulation models development
BIM lab Contribute to the national and international goal to get more experience in working with building models in all phases of the building process. The project is dealing with the problem: General specifications (ex. DDB s Clients demands) versus practical implementation in actual software and working methods.

BIM lab Topics of priority Lack of good examples Lack of building models to manipulate in the education Lack of general view of the functionality of the ICT tools To little focus on integration, especially the integration between building models and specialized simulation tools Lack of more detailed working methods in relation to the technological possibilities
