8 VIEW ONLY INITIATIVE UPDATE DESCRIPTION Phase 1 View-Only goals included introducing physicians and staff to the EMR, converting paper records to electronic format, allowing clinicians to interact with patients and the EMR without the pressure of data entry and generating interest and momentum. The view only system is the EMR application that allows physicians and staff to have access to the following information: TJUH Lab, Radiology and Pathology results TJUH Transcribed documents Scanned documents from office charts Phase II View-Only with Clinician Data Population goals include allowing clinicians and certain staff to enter and change clinical data, such as problem lists, medications, allergies and immunizations, during or after a patient encounter.

9 VIEW ONLY INITIATIVE UPDATE STRATEGY Allow physicians and staff to ease into using the EMR without the pressure of too much data management well in advance of the actual go-live. It also allows the physicians and staff to get comfortable navigating and using the system, which would aid in overall adoption of the EMR system: Mitigate the impact on physician and staff productivity Provide value prior to go-live Reduce training time Test interfaces Canvas feedback from physicians and staff and make the necessary corrections Refine the design of the application and reduce user overhead Work out the bugs with the hardware and software setup Test the implementation support model
