Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course the student should be able to: 1. Explain the rationale for global marketing principles, concepts, and business strategies. 2. Identify factors that drive the fast-changing global-marketing environment. 3. Conduct global market analysis. 4. Design effective and ethical global marketing strategies. Course Purpose: This course provides the student with overview of the theories, concepts, strategic thinking, and processes involved in global marketing. This course fosters the development of the analytical skills necessary for evaluating global marketing environments and developing appropriate strategies for corporate growth. Course Prerequisites: MKT 3300 Principles of Marketing Specific Course Requirements: None Research Component: There is no formal research component (i.e. written research paper) required for this course. However, you could be required to complete some written research assignments Entrance Competencies: The student must possess the knowledge and skills of basic marketing principles for this course. The student must possess a general knowledge of the global business and the various variables that affect global business. Required Textbooks: The textbook provider for the etroy of Troy University is Barnes & Nobles. The web site for textbook purchases is http://troy.bncollege.com 3

Students should have their text the first week of class. Not having your book will not be an acceptable excuse for late work. Students who add this course late should refer to the Late Registration section for further guidance. Supplementary Materials: As deemed necessary and appropriate. Attendance Policy: In addition to interaction via Blackboard and e-mail contact, students are required to contact the instructor via e-mail or telephone by the first day of the term for an initial briefing. Although physical class meetings are not part of this course, participation in all interactive, learning activities is required. Submitting Assignments: All assignments should be completed and submitted as required in the Blackboard. Please review the assignment section to determine your weekly assignments. Please note the due dates on them. Your responses must be typed, using 12pt. font, double-spaced, in MS-Word format. Failure to comply will result in point deductions. The assignments must be turned into the Assignments Section or Discussion Board Thread by mid-night of the due date. (NOTE: Blackboard operates on Central US Time). Include your name, course name, number, and section on the assignments and submit the assignment as instructed. Points will be deducted for failure to follow the format requirements. No e-mail attachments will be accepted, due to the risk of viruses. Make-Up Work Policy: Missing any part of this schedule may prevent completion of the course. If you foresee difficulty of any type (i.e., an illness, employment change, etc.) which may prevent completion of this course, notify the instructor as soon as possible. Failure to do so will result in failure for an assignment and/or failure of the course. (See "Attendance" Policy.) If I have not heard from you by the deadline dates for assignments, exams, or forums, no make-up work will be allowed (unless extraordinary circumstances exist, such as hospitalization). Requests for extensions must be made in advance and accompanied by appropriate written documentation. "Computer problems" is not an acceptable excuse. Method of Evaluation: 4

There are Three (3) Exams in this course. Exams 1 and 3 are Open-Book and (Exam 2) will be proctored. The Exams will be Online and each will consist of 50-100 True-False and/or Multiple-Choice objective type questions. Exam 2 is proctored. Each exam will have a 1-1/2 to 2 hours (two) time limit. Each exam will consist of 50-100 questions of multiple-choice and True/False questions. You will have one-time access to the exam the system will not allow multiple exam re-takes. If for any reason while you are taking the EXAM the system crashes, PLEASE DO NOT PANIC. You should send me an e-mail explaining the circumstances to atogungbure@troy.edu And if appropriate, I will reset the exam for you. Please note that the reset Exam will not be identical to the one you previously taken. BREAKOUT OF GRADES: Examination 1.....100 points Examination 2.......100 points Examination 3...100 points Connect Assignment......... 50 points Case Analysis 2 @ 25 points each.50 points Discussion Board.........100 points Total.500 points Please note: There will be NO points issued for late Discussion Board postings and any other assignments. ASSIGNMENT OF GRADES: All grades will be posted in the student grade book in Blackboard and will be assigned according to the following or similar scale: A 90 100% B 80 89% C 70 79% D 60 69% F 59% and below Postings: I post grades in Blackboard, in the Gradebook. FA: FA indicates the student failed due to attendance. This grade will be given to any student who disappears from the course for three or more weeks. See the Attendance section of this syllabus for additional information. 5

Examination Schedule and Instructions: Each Exam may be taken ANYTIME upon availability up to the deadline specified by the instructor or exam instruction. Prepare for the exam by carefully reading and understanding the relevant textbook materials covered in the chapters and taking the practice quizzes as often as you wish. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PRACTICE QUIZZES/EXERCISES DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS YOUR COURSE GRADE. THEY ARE FOR YOUR PRACTICES ONLY. DO NOT SUBMIT THEM TO THE INSTRUCTOR FOR CREDITS). The examination instructions would be as follows: The exams will be multiple choice, true-false, and/or essay questions. They will be available for a specific time period. See the Course Schedule in the back of this syllabus for the dates during which time the exams will be available. The exams will be delivered on-line via Blackboard. They can be found in the Assessments link on the Blackboard. Unless otherwise stated, the exams will be timed. Points will be deducted if the student overruns the time limit for the exam. See the exam instructions for the time limit and how the overrun deductions are calculated. Examination #2: Students are required to take this exam as a PROCTORED examination presented electronically via Blackboard during Week5 or 6. This will be a closed-book/closed-notes exam and will consist of 50 multiple choice and/or true/false questions covering all learning objectives in this course. No telephones, books or notes are permitted in the testing center. Blank scratch paper may be provided by your proctor, but this must be given to the proctor before you leave the testing center. Proctors must be approved by etroy Testing Center. See Blackboard for further information about this test, its location in Blackboard, and the proctoring system. Late Registration: Students who register during the first week of the term, during late registration, will already be one week behind. Students who fall into this category are expected to catch up with all of Week #1 and Week #2's work by the end of Week #2. No exceptions, since two weeks constitutes a significant percentage of the term's lessons. Students who do not feel they can meet this deadline should not enroll in the class. If they have registered, they should see their registrar, academic adviser, GoArmyEd or Military Education officer to discuss their options. Also note that late registration may mean you do not receive your book in time to make up the work you missed in Week #1. Not having your book on the first day of class is not an excuse for late work after the deadlines in the Course Schedule. Incomplete Grade Policy: 6

Missing any part of the Course Schedule may prevent completion of the course. If circumstances will prevent the student from completing the course by the end of the term, the student should complete a request for an incomplete grade. Note: A grade of incomplete or 'INC' is not automatically assigned to students, but rather must be requested by the student by submitting a Petition for and Work to Remove an Incomplete Grade Form. Requests for an incomplete grade must be made on or before the date of the final assignment or test of the term. The form will not be available after the last day of the term. A grade of 'INC' does not replace an 'F' and will not be awarded for excessive absences. An 'INC' will only be awarded to student presenting a valid case for the inability to complete coursework by the conclusion of the term. It is ultimately the instructor's decision to grant or deny a request for an incomplete grade, subject to the policy rules below. Policy/Rules for granting an Incomplete (INC): An incomplete cannot be issued without a request from the student. To qualify for an incomplete, the student must: 1.) Have completed over 50% of the course material and have a documented reason for requesting incomplete (50% means all assignments/exams up to and including the midterm point, test, and/or assignments.) 2.) Be passing the course at the time of their request. If both of the above criteria are not met an incomplete cannot be granted. An INC is not a substitute for an 'F'. If a student has earned an 'F' by not submitting all the work or by receiving an overall 'F' average, then the 'F' stands. Troy Email: All students were required to obtain and use the TROY email address that is automatically assigned to them as TROY students. All official correspondence (including bills, statements, emails from instructors and grades, etc.) will be sent ONLY to the troy.edu (@troy.edu) address. All students are responsible for ensuring that the correct email address is listed in Blackboard by the beginning of Week One. Email is the only way the instructor can, at least initially, communicate with you. It is your responsibility to make sure a valid email address is provided. Failure on your part to do so can result in your missing important information that could affect your grade. Your troy.edu email address is the same as your Web Express user ID following by @troy.edu. Students are responsible for the information that is sent to their TROY email account. You can get to your email account by logging onto the course and clicking 'Email Login'. You will be able to forward your TROY email to your GoArmyEd account. You must first access your 7

TROY email account through the TROY email link found on the Web site. After you log in to your TROY email account, click on 'options' on the left hand side of the page. Then click on 'Forwarding'. This will enable you to set up the email address to which you will forward your email. Internet Access: This is an online class. Students must have access to a working computer and access to the Internet. Students can use a TROY computer lab (if available), a public library, etc., to insure they have access. 'Not having a computer' or 'computer crashes' are not acceptable excuses for late work. Have a back-up plan in place in case you have computer problems. Make sure that your computer meets the technical requirements and that you have adequate Internet connection. Students must have access to a working computer that they have administrator rights on and access to the Internet. Students can use University computer labs, a public library, etc. to access the Internet but some courses may require the ability to download course related software. Make sure you are ready for online learning - etroy works on nine week terms. Does your learning style match an accelerate course pace? Do you have the time to dedicate to an interactive course? etroy courses are not self-paced courses, you must meet all the timelines established by the instructor and participate in all activities assigned. Be sure to register during the registration timeframes - There are four weeks of registration for each term. Register early and order your books. etroy runs on nine week terms. Waiting until the first week of classes to register and order books is too late. It is the online learners' responsibility to be prepared for the first day of the term. etroy students are required to order their textbooks through MBS Direct to insure the student has the proper materials for the course. Work with your instructor - while in an online course the online learners are expected to work with the faculty who teach the course when questions arise related to the course and the grades. The staff cannot 'fix a grade'. Once the course is completed for a grade and there are still issues, there are appropriate procedures that online learners must follow to address their concerns. Be courteous, polite and respectful - to faculty, staff and fellow students. Inappropriate behaviors and comments will not be tolerated. Be ethical in your coursework - Cheating, plagiarism, and other such behaviors will not be tolerated at Troy University. Penalties: At Troy University, penalties for plagiarism include, but are not limited to, a reduction of grade on an assignment and/or a course as well as such sanctions as loss of student privileges, probation, suspension, and expulsion.
