Leica DozerNav Plus High precision GPS dozer guidance More than a guidance system
Leica DozerNav Plus > helping you drive productivity with ease Leica DozerNav Plus the benefits at a glance Real-time feedback Operator feedback The key to operating dozers efficiently on a mine site lies in giving accurate, real-time, guidance information (relative to the design plan) to the person who controls the machine. Leica DozerNav Plus highlights cut and fill information on a large, easy to read display that the operator can view at a glance. The system also displays grade tolerance and warns operators if they are working outside the project boundaries or in a dangerous area. Accurate Vital measurements Leica DozerNav Plus accurately displays on the screen in the cab a range of parameters for total situation awareness. These include cut, fill, grade, elevation, distances, topography, and landmarks. Operators can see the big picture simply at a glance which helps to improve decision making. Satellite availability Leica DozerNav Plus is based on Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite technology. With GPS, accuracies of 3-6 cm Vertical (Z) and 2-4 cm Horizontal (X-Y) can be achieved with greater than five satellites in view. If the view to the sky is badly restricted, (e.g. by high walls or large buildings), the simultaneous use of both the American Navstar and Russian Glonass GPS systems can help to ensure higher accuracy and system availability. Efficient Works in all conditions Leica DozerNav Plus works day and night in any kind of weather including fog, rain and snow. This results in increased nighttime production and no weather delays due to poor visibility. Grade staking eliminated The need to set grade stakes is removed as is the need for operators to wait on survey crews to set them.
Leica DozerNav Plus Solution Operating a dozer productively on a mine site requires an understanding of the location and height of the machine relative to a pre-determined design surface. You need to be able to cut and fill within the grade tolerance quickly and efficiently in all weather conditions. Leica DozerNav Plus is a high precision GPS based positioning system designed for machine guidance of earthmoving equipment. It provides instant feedback on a range of positioning parameters. It supports your experience and aids your decisions. Productivity gains made easy. No more rework Leica DozerNav Plus displays grade information immediately enabling operators to produce consistent results without rework, the first time, every time. It eliminates operator guesswork when moving material. Truck tyre life optimised Waste dumps can be better managed using Leica DozerNav Plus which in turn helps to reduce haul truck tyre damage. This is achieved through the accurate maintenance of dump surfaces to ensure consistent grade and drainage. Leica DozerNav Plus can also be used to more tightly control road grade for haul road constructions. In this way truck performance is increased and tyre wear is reduced. Integration Integrated mine planning and production using Leica DozerNav Plus improves productivity of dozers and of the overall mine site. Delay detection and analysis * Leica DozerNav Plus will automatically record the start and duration of all delays. Accurate delay detection allows for detailed analysis of lost time improving dozer utilisation. A dropdown list of possible reasons for the delay is presented to the operator. Simply touching on the appropriate delay will tag the start of the delay with the operator s reason. *not for stand alone dozers Operator friendly Easy to use system Leica DozerNav Plus is so simple to use that operators can be working more efficiently with only a few hours of training. Simply turn the system on and start work! The human interface is via an 8 inch colour LCD touch screen with 400 nits brightness. The screen is crisp and clear and allows excellent visibility in sunlight as well as low glare at night. It is intuitive and easy to use. Safe Improved site safety Due to the reduction in the traditional method of machine guidance being required (i.e. grade stakes), site safety is improved as fewer surveyors and chain men are needed to actively work around heavy equipment. Warning alarms for operators Leica DozerNav Plus takes safety even further, allowing 3D warning zones to be defined which will alarm operators. The system will also display hazardous areas like load out chutes, stackers, buried cables and old mined areas. Tracking progress Leica DozerNav Plus displays several different colour-coded options to show operators their progress: Cut/Fill/Grade shows the operator what is required to cut or fill to grade Ripper shows area covered by ripper Dual surfaces - design and working surfaces are displayed at the same time on screen Productivity full productivity statistics are shown including material moved Hatch view shows the operator the current working surface compared to the design surface using different colour grading tolerances Designing the plan Simply create the plan and the digital terrain model (DTM) using your regular design software. Many packages have an option to provide Leica DozerNav Plus ready output built in. DXF files are fully supported. Alternatively, Leica Geosystems Site Manager software will allow you to design the plans required or convert file formats from other packages to Leica DozerNav Plus. The plans can then be downloaded directly to the machine via radio telemetry or manually with data cards. Leica DozerNav Plus helps operators to better visualise design plans. Autonomous operations Without design plans from the office, the operator is able to create flat elevations, slope or a ramp right on the dozer. A slope is just a simple surface that is defined by two points along a centre line, with up to two cross slope values either side of the centre line. This is useful for constructing temporary pads, simple roads, access ramps, etc.
Managing the data Turning data into information Data logged on board the machine is uploaded to the office via radio telemetry or data card and the DTM is updated to the current status. This enables easy calculations of the amount of material moved by the dozer. This vital information allows for effective planning and control, as continual monitoring and reporting of the status of the project compared to budget is possible. All project analysis tools are easily integrated with the Microsoft Office Suite and you can schedule reports at any frequency to be printed, emailed or placed on intranets. This allows real-time fleet information to be easily shared and used in decision making to maximise productivity. Integration with Fleet Monitoring System Leica DozerNav Plus is able to integrate into existing fleet systems such as Leica FMS. Reliable service and support Leica DozerNav Plus is sophisticated in design making it simple to be maintained and managed by mine staff. On board diagnosis for quick trouble shooting of the system includes radios, position corrections and GPS. Leica Geosystems is focused on providing you with low maintenance products that have competent back-up support when you need it. One Company. One Integrated Solution. Options for Leica DozerNav Plus Fast two way radio telemetry To integrate the office with the machine in the field, Leica DozerNav Plus uses reliable spread spectrum radio systems. Both 900 MHz TDMA and 2.4GHz 802.11 are supported. This allows for a single radio infrastructure for machine monitoring at most mines to deal with the large volumes of data required for position and information systems. Angle sensor The angle sensor option provides great accuracy in both tilt and cross slope conditions. Supervisor assistance Leica DozerNav Plus can even be mounted in a light vehicle to provide supervisors with accurate, real-time position and height inspection information. This allows the operators and supervisors to liaise regarding work progress with ease. With full access to all design and actual files, the supervisor can quickly check that the site has been brought to grade with the desired accuracy.
