PROGRAM OFFERING: Master of Science in Childhood Education (Grades J/K-6) Our faculty will prepare you to create productive teacher-learner environments. They will help you develop your potential through research, practice, field experience and participation in other professional activities. Enjoy small classes taught by expert faculty who hold doctoral degrees and have distinguished themselves through research, publications, conference presentations and teaching while being readily available to students. Students can start their program in either the fall, spring or summer semester. Courses are offered every semester enabling you to take the ones you need when you need them. Evening and summer classes available. Generally, you will take classes on campus two days a week. Enjoy small classes and engaging faculty with numerous years of teaching experience. D Youville s director of Canadian student teaching has over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience in Ontario School Boards and has been placing Ontario students into schools for D Youville for over 20 years. Canadian students follow a plan of study that will fulfill the New York state certification requirements and the Ontario College of Teachers regulations. This will enable you to apply for a Certificate of Qualification to teach in the Province of Ontario. D Youville College is dedicated to a proven step-by-step process so you can become certified to teach in New York and Ontario. With a full-time teacher certification officer on campus, all regulations and requirements for teacher certification in New York and Ontario are continually reviewed to ensure that students are following a course of study to meet requirements. You will be guided from registration to graduation.

IN CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (GRADES J/K-6) Early experiences and learning will shape children s views of themselves and the world. If you choose to become an educator at the childhood level, you ll be prepared to teach children in all subject areas. D Youville s childhood education master s program meets the New York State teacher certification requirements in addition to the current Ontario College of Teachers regulations with four semesters of course work and 80 hours of student teaching experience. After successful completion of the program you will be eligible to apply for both New York State certification as well as for a Certificate of Certification to teach in the Province of Ontario. NOTE FOR CHILDHOOD: Candidates will be required to take the Educating All Students test (EAS), Academic Literacy Skills Test (ALST), Content Specialty Test (CST) and the Education Teacher Performance Assessment (EdTPA). Financial Aid & Scholarships financialaid@dyc.edu 800.777.3921 At D Youville College, we understand that financing a graduate education can be difficult. That s why we have various forms of financial aid available for all students, such as scholarships, grants and loans. New graduate education students are automatically reviewed at time of admission for a merit based scholarship. Eligiblity is based on a minimum G.P.A. of 3.25 (U.S. grading scale) or a B or 70 average from Canadian schools. Continuing graduate students can apply for a merit scholarship directly with the education department. CANADIAN TEACHER PROGRAM (MS) ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS All candidates for admission to the Canadian teacher program must have completed their bachelor s degree prior to beginning classes at D Youville. You will be required to provide: 1. Complete and submit a graduate/adult application for admission for free online at www.dyc.edu/apply. 2. Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities previously attended. 3. Current resume. 4. Minimum of one letter of recommendation written by someone who has observed you working with children or young adults. 5. A one page (250-word) letter of intent explaining why you are considering a career in education. CANADIAN STUDENT DISCOUNT We currently award a 20% net tuition discount to Canadian education students. This discount applies to tuition only. Ontario residents may also be eligible to apply for OSAP funding. Our financial aid office will complete the required paperwork, however Ontario does not confirm award eligibility prior to enrollment.
