Website Design E-commerce Websites There are many factors involved when designing websites which include: Functionality: Will the design integrate seamlessly with the back-end technology? Aesthetics: Does the site look good and present the company in a professional manner? Marketing: Will the design appeal to the right target market? Are the key marketing messages and prompts in a prominent place? User Experience: Is the design intuitive enough for the end user to navigate freely? Availability: Can the site be accessed by disabled visitors? Can the site be accessed across all Internet enabled media? Flexibility: Is the design flexible enough to be easily updated with content, or phased design changes to keep the site contemporary? Mark Parkhouse Jewellers http://www.markparkhouse.co.uk/ Dealing in antique jewellery, Mark Parkhouse wanted a stylish, elegant website that reflected his shop premises. Inspiration was taken from the shop decor to create a template for the Commerce-Core back-end driving the site. Working from your brief, the Coreware design team will ensure that the above criteria is met, then create a mock up design, which after a QA process will become the template to your website. The following pages illustrate examples of websites that Coreware have designed: Kersplat http://www.kersplat.co.uk/ Kersplat is an online shop specialising in toys and retro games. The site design needed to be bright and funky, yet practical enough to allow the Magento back-end to dynamically change the content depending on settings. The site is still in beta development.
Charity Websites Limb Loss Information Centre http://limblossinformationcentre.com/ The LLIC site is a news and information site for people affected by limb loss. LLIC wanted a blog-style site with easy to use, clear navigation. Coreware created the LLIC Identity then constructed a custom Wordpress theme based around it. Windmill Hill Windmill http://windmillhillwindmill.org/ Bader Braves http://douglasbaderfoundation.com/bader-braves/ Coreware had already designed and built the Douglas Bader Foundation website using Wordpress, when they were asked to add an extra section to the site for the Bader Braves which is aimed at youngsters. The trustees of the Windmill Hill windmill wanted a brochure style website encouraging new visitors through interaction. Coreware designed a bright, friendly website that is easy to navigate, includes lots of information and features a webcam of the windmill.
Start-Up Businesses Official Certificates http://www.official-certificates.co.uk/ Official Certificates supply replacement UK certificates. Using lots of imagery made the site bright and cheerful whilst clearly defining the certificate categories, easing navigation. School of Performing Arts http://www.schoolofperformingarts.co.uk/ As a new start-up business, the School of Performing Arts were unable to supply Coreware with any visual material at all, so Coreware created the logo and identity and used stock art images to give the site a visual appeal. Sussex Retro Car Club http://www.sussexretrocarclub.co.uk/ SRCC wanted a fun, retro looking website for their retro car-hire business. The 1970s TV plays a slideshow of car images and the old calendar shows the correct date every day.
Website Re-Designs Charter Veterinary Hospital Group http://www.chartervets.com The Charter Vets website was predominantly aimed at B2B but they wanted the focus changing to consumers in order to push their small animal services. Coreware redesigned the site and upgraded it to Wordpress to allow greater flexibility and control. Colo-X http://www.colo-x.com/ Review Contracts http://www.reviewcontracts.co.uk/ Review needed some fundamental changes to how their site operated, so they opted for a complete re-design during the upgrading. The logo was supplied but the rest was done by Coreware. Colo-X moved from a static, brochure site to a dynamic magazine style site so needed a complete design review in the process. Using the existing logo and identity, Coreware re-designed the site, fitting in lots more content with a more contemporary look.
Informative Websites Motorbase http://motorbase.com Motorbase is a massive encyclopedia covering just about every motor vehicle ever produced. The brief was to organise all this information in a way that would make searching and browsing much easier. The Motorbase site also includes a shop section, classified ads section and news articles as well as advertising for revenue stream. All of these elements had to be carefully considered when designing the site. Coreware were supplied with the data and the logo, but the layout and look and feel were created by Coreware. The Management Channel http://www.themanagementchannel.co.uk/ Information, articles and videos aimed at management. Another Wordpress site, Coreware designed the logo, identity and website from the ground up with only a short brief to work from.
The Forge Templates The Forge is where Coreware experiment with new ideas and new technology. One such Forge project is Big Clucker. Based (loosely) around the TV show Big Brother, the stars are chickens that can be viewed all day long through a series of interlinked webcams. Viewers can vote for their favourite chicken and can remotely control the chickens being fed. The site design and build has all been done internally, but is not yet live. As well as designing their own clients websites, the Coreware design team have also produced designs and templates for third party companies and freelancers. Designs could be delivered as Photoshop PSD files, as HTML or as Wordpress, Magento or Joomla themes.
App Designs This ipad app allows jewellery shop assistants to help their customer select their chosen stone and band to create their own personal, perfect ring. The app is bristling with technology in the background, using wi-fi connections to query a central database, but the design is elegant to look at and intuitive to use. All design work was carried out by Coreware. This was an iphone app designed to help students with revision homework. The design needed to be bright and friendly to appeal to teenagers whilst being intuitive and engaging. The app used a combination of custom graphics and buttons together with standard iphone IOS system buttons and navigation.
