My education at NEO prepared me for a job I love in just 2 years right out of high school. KATE BAKAY Class of 2010 APPLICATION PROCESS Acceptance to the technical portion of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program is based on total points. The primary points are based on your composite ACT score and Grade Point Average in your prerequisite courses. It is extremely competitive. If you will complete your prerequisite courses in May, submit your application by March 15 you can be considered for the class that begins in the summer semester. At one time, I was going to medical school because I believed that was what I needed to do to help people. I became interested in physical therapy due to my need for physical therapy. At NEO I was able to develop strong, lasting relationships with classmates because we all had to work together throughout the program, and at the same time, I developed strong relationships with the caring instructors. As a graduate from the program, I strongly recommend NEO s PTA program. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN Do you welcome new challenges? Are you intrigued by solving problems? Did you enjoy science in high school? Do you want to help save lives? A CAREER IN THE MEDICAL LABORATORY MAY BE THE CAREER FOR YOU. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIANS are the scientists behind the scenes of the medical care team. Medical laboratory workers perform general tests in all laboratory areas: blood banking, clinical chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, and urinalysis. MEDICAL LABORATORY THECNICIANS work with medical technologists to hunt for clues to the absence, presence, extent, and causes of diseases. These vital healthcare detectives assist physicians in patient diagnosis. The MLT uses sophisticated instrumentation, and methods requiring manual dexterity to perform laboratory testing on blood and body fluids. WHERE CAN I WORK? Medical Laboratory Technicians are mostly employed in hospital laboratories but are also employed by physician clinic laboratories, reference labs, community blood banks, product manufacturers, and pharmaceutical companies.

Because this medical career works mostly in laboratories, it's a great health care job choice if you prefer minimal interaction with patients. WHY MLT AT NEO? NEO offers the MLT program in two different formats. Choose the format that best fits your needs. Hybrid: Classes on-line, lab work on campus Distance: Classes on-line, virtual labs online, campus labs 3 per semester JOB AVAILABILITY This health care profession has high job availability compared to other undergraduate careers in medicine. The rate of new job openings for medical laboratory technologists and technicians over the next few years is above the national average for most jobs. Depending on the state and ownership of the laboratory the average wage for an MLT ranges from $15.00 to $21.00 an hour. Please check out the NEO MLT website for all program information & application paperwork www.neo.edu/mlt FACULTY Mitzie Miller Office: 918-540-6307 Cell: 918-533-2989 mitzie@neo.edu THE MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN PROGRAM AT NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M COLLEGE IS ACCREDITED BY THE NATIONAL ACCREDITING AGENCY FOR CLINICAL LABORATORY SCIENCES, 5600 N RIVER RD., SUITE 720, ROSEMONT, IL, 60018-5119, (773) 714-8880, WWW.NAACLS.ORG
