Transway Solutions

Company About Cowan Systems : Cowan Systems was founded in 1994 by Joseph W. Cowan as a new operating entity, but has origins dating back over 80 years. In 1924 Joseph Cowan s father established W. T. Cowan, Inc., a trucking company which provided LTL service throughout the Middle Atlantic States. As deregulation occurred within the trucking industry, W. T. Cowan, Inc. was transformed into an irregular route truckload carrier. In 1994 the company expanded its focus to include the services of a specialized truckload carrier. About Transway Solutions: Cowan Systems opened Transway Solutions in 2012 in order to support its customers demands with highly sought after Supply Chain solutions that offer both best in breed transportation management systems and logistics consulting services. Partnered with Cowans network Transway Solutions leverages its resources consisting of: Over 1,300 power units of lightweight equipment, creating an unparalleled network flexible to improve asset utilization for heavyweight shippers by over 12% Transportation agreements with over 5,000 common carriers and offers an unmatched lane rate benchmark program for our shippers Brokerage Management of third party distribution A vast agency network providing international and domestic container drayage

TMS Transway Solutions acquired the MercuryGate Software as a best in breed Transportation Management System (TMS). MercuryGate's founders realized that a solution designed and delivered from the ground up to take advantage of the strengths of the Internet and the Web, would have enormous value. In addition, a design that used the latest Internet-based technology could benefit companies of any size. They recognized that a revolutionary new approach was needed after examining other solutions that: Founded in 2000, the company manages over 180 customers and supports over 90,000 users per day Provide a shipper view or a carrier view but rarely both Claim "cost savings" by automating existing inefficient processes Are "webafied" solutions - an Internet front end thrown on top of existing silo applications Seem "network based" but depend on large, proprietary, inflexible, and costly batch applications Support one-to-one or at best one-to-many relationships, but not the many-to-many that are essential to a comprehensive value-driven TMS solution. With MercuryGate solutions, data is no longer duplicated across the enterprise, and data-mapping expense is reduced or eliminated. Users share a common execution platform with the capability to see the same data, at the same time, in the same format in a true operations-level, collaborative environment. Proactive capabilities allow practitioners to focus on exceptions. MercuryGate's low risk implementation method was intended to allow logistics managers to see immediate results without the large upfront outlays usually associated with new technology solutions. In a nutshell, MercuryGate's Vision is to help businesses grow and prosper by letting you do more with less.

Gartner Magic Quadrant Rating MercuryGate is a highly ranked TMS within the Gartner Magic Quadrant. Notable strengths include: Beyond functionality, TCO and time to value are two notable strengths, with a starting price point that is well below TMS market averages. MercuryGate provides a comprehensive multimodal TMS that covers operational planning, execution and settlement (audit and payment). It offers a native, parcel-manifesting system integrated with multimodal TMS. Although several SaaS TMS vendors have pre-onboarded carriers directly, MercuryGate is one of the only vendors to also integrate with numerous load boards to share loads or look for backhaul opportunities. MercuryGate is growing much faster than most of its TMS competition (over 40% for 2010), due largely to its core functionality, modest TCO, rapid time to value and continuing growth in functionality. The vendor has developed a rapid development environment, in which it issues a new release every eight weeks. Functional changes are user-role-controlled, so users don't have to take upgrades if they don't want or need them. MercuryGate has proven that it can support a wide array of customers, from small TMS novice users to very large, complex and sophisticated shippers.
