College of Education Dr. Willis Walter, Jr. Dean, College of Education Vice President, Community Affairs & K-16 Initiatives The College of Education offers the Bachelor s Degree in seven areas. Each undergraduate program has been approved by the state of Florida to include state teaching certification. Additionally, the College of Education is nationally accredited by NCATE/CAEP (The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education/Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs). College of Health Sciences Dr. Deanna Wathington Executive Dean, College of Health Sciences The College of Health Sciences is committed to forging a bold path to health. It works to suffuse Health Equity, Aging and Lifespan Health, and Health Policy and Advocacy into all of its programs via: the School of Nursing, the Department of Psychology, the Department of Aging Studies, the Department of Public Health, the Health Careers Program (offered jointly with the College of Science, Engineering and Math), and the Odessa Chambliss Center for Health Equity. Bachelor of Science Master of Science Degree Nursing Aging Studies Psychology Counseling Psychology Dr. Sandra K. Tucker Dean, School of Nursing The Bachelor of Science in Nursing offers a BSN degree for beginning practitioners who possess all the qualities necessary for leadership roles in the practice of their profession and in the communities in which they live. A balanced curriculum offers courses in the liberal arts, the sciences, the humanities and nursing. Some introductory courses relating to world, regional and local health issues are offered during the freshman and sophomore years; however, the majority of the nursing courses are concentrated in the junior and senior years. These courses involve nursing students in classroom and clinical learning experiences in area hospitals, long-term care facilities, home-health care, hospice, the health department, early childhood facilities, restorative, rehabilitative and mental health agencies, and many other community-based settings. The School of Nursing is approved by the Florida State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). College of Liberal Arts Dr. Janice Allen-Kelsey Dean, College of Liberal Arts The College of Liberal Arts provides students with a diverse set of skills that are in demand by employers, graduate schools, and law schools. Students who major in liberal arts are prepared to excel in critical thinking, problem solving, communication, leadership, intellectual curiosity, and research skills. This diverse skill set positions them to compete on a global level for career success. Guided by an outstanding faculty, students gain knowledge, values, and skills that encourage personal growth as well as professional development. The College of Liberal Arts also provides service and support courses for the requirements of the General Education Program in the fulfillment of English, African American History, Humanities, Languages, Religion and Philosophy, and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences. The College of Liberal Arts provides graduate studies in Criminal Justice Administration and in Transformative Leadership through innovative online courses of study. The Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration program produces graduates with the preparation and skills necessary to become highly marketable and successful leaders in criminal justice fields in court systems, corrections, probation and law enforcement within local, state, and federal agencies (such as FBI, CIA, Drug Enforcement Agency, and Department of Homeland Security). The Master of Science in Transformative Leadership program trains leaders who can analyze the socio-economic and cultural forces producing rapid change, who are able to understand the impact of such change on various workplace environments, who will be innovative leaders within their workplace, and who can assist in moving their organizations forward to meet change productively and effectively. The Online College Dr. Arletha McSwain Dean, Online College The Online College is responsible for developing and implementing high quality distance education degree programs and certificates at the undergraduate and graduate levels. College of Science, Engineering & Mathematics Dr. Herbert Thompson, Sr. Dean, College of Science, Engineering & Mathematics The College of Science, Engineering & Mathematics (CSEM) offers majors which provide training to undergraduate students in the natural sciences, computer science/engineering and mathematics, which facilitate entrance into careers in private industry, government, or graduate and professional schools. The CSEM endeavors to provide its undergraduate students with research opportunities in modern fields as well as opportunities to use their skills in service to the community. The CSEM also provides service and support courses for the fulfillment of the science and mathematics requirements of the General Education Program. College of Undergraduate Studies Dr. Alexis Brooks-Walter Dean, College of Undergraduate Studies The College of Undergraduate Studies is a comprehensive first-year experience designed to provide students with a historical context in which to view the school and the core values that are important to the institution. Further, The College of Undergraduate Studies provides a network of resources to help students as they matriculate so that students are prepared for success in their upper-level classes. The College of Undergraduate Studies does this with a core of dedicated faculty, staff and Student Success Coaches who are committed to the success of first-year students and who understand the unique challenges of the first-year experience. Ms. Dominique Barrs Chair, Freshman Year Experience The College of Undergraduate Studies offers classes that provide students with a comprehensive learning experience that fosters transition from high school to higher education, personal transformation, social responsibility, spiritual growth and academic success.

School of Graduate Studies Dr. Hiram C. Powell Dean, School of Graduate Studies Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) offers Master s degree programs designed to enhance the professional competence of qualified men and women. Graduate study at B-CU incorporates traditional coursework, practicum opportunities, research methodology, innovative technology, and a strong and diverse focus in a learning environment that promotes academic quality and career specialization. The School of Graduate Studies is responsible for the administration of the graduate programs including recruitment and admissions, development and implementation of policies, and approval of new graduate degree programs. Master of Science in Counseling Psychology (MSCP) The MSCP program aims to prepare students to engage in a variety of mental health and social service careers. The MSCP course curriculum design is based upon the State of Florida s guidelines for licensing as a clinical mental health worker and meets the Florida Department of Health regulations through the Division of Medical Quality Assurance and the Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling. All courses are held on the BCU main campus on evenings and weekends consisting of five terms/per academic year with each term of eight week duration. Using state of the art facilities and classrooms equipped with multimedia computer technology, the traditional classroom will be augmented with on-line delivery support systems. The MSCP graduate program offers two tracks - a 60 semester hour clinical licensing track and 36 semester hour social services track. Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration (MSCJA) The MSCJA is a thirty-six (36) credit hour fully online master s program that aims to prepare students to engage in a variety of criminal justice settings such as law enforcement agencies, courts, and correctional agencies. All courses are offered online using state of the art technology and equipment. The program is designed to be completed in four semesters, each of fifteen-week duration. There are two tracks, Capstone Project Paper (Track I) and Thesis (Track II), for the Master s in Criminal Justice Administration degree program. Master of Science in Integrated Environmental Science (MSIES) The MSIES explores environmental topics from a firm grounding in the natural and physical sciences while integrating social, economic, and political aspects of environmental topics to develop functional approaches to address environmental issues. Hands-on, service-based, and interdisciplinary, the MSIES seeks students who want to learn to make a difference. The program is 36 credit hours and can be completed in four semesters.

Master of Science in Transformative Leadership (MSTL) The MSTL offers an innovative online course of study focusing on values-based leadership and transformation. The 36 credit hours interdisciplinary degree program is designed for working adults who want a program that will enhance their leadership skills in the workplace while equipping them with the ethical foundation and civic engagement experiences to become transformative leaders in our global society. School of Professional Studies Dr. Darryl A. Frazier Dean, School of Professional Studies The School of Professional Studies program seeks to serve the University by providing educational services to the traditional, non-traditional and adult learner matriculating student. The program provides the means by which the University enriches, expands, and extends its primary missions of teaching, research and community service. Our school The School of Professional Studies purposely seeks adult and non-traditional learners at specific areas throughout the State of Florida to provide career oriented degree and non-degree programs. Outreach programs have been designed to meet the educational, social and cultural needs of adult learners. Bachelor of Arts Degree Liberal Studies The School of Professional Studies offers a degree program leading to the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies.

Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning Dr. Carol B. Johnson Director, Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning The Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning is designed to enhance teaching and learning through campus- wide Divergent Learning training and provide resources for faculty, staff, and students. The Center will also provide various support for faculty, staff, and students to improve teaching and professional development and will infuse a culture throughout the University which values and rewards effective teaching, alternative methods for teaching and learning, and customer service. The Divergent Learning training will present the characteristics of the divergent learner as they bear on the instructional program, including intellectual, language, personal, and social areas. This training is designed to foster a deep comprehension of students, faculty and staff, who are at-risk in any traditional setting because of thinking, learning, processing and behavioral differences. The training will enable faculty, and staff to embrace new behaviors to enable students and adults to become academic achievers and assume roles in society as productive citizens, as well as understanding that divergent differences are differences, not deficiencies. Carl S. Swisher Library and Learning Resource Center Dr. Tasha L. Youmans Dean & Chief Librarian, Carl Swisher Library The Carl S. Swisher Library and Learning Center collection contains over 140,000 volumes, as well as print and electronic periodicals, microforms and other electronic media. An online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) provides access to the library collection via the internet. The collection is housed in open stacks except for special collections. The Library features a Local Area Network (LAN) with access to the Internet and subscribed online databases that include ProQuest, EBSCO, Britannica Online, JSTOR, Black Studies Center, CREDO, and others other prominent scholarly resources. As a member of the Northeast Florida Library Network (NEFLIN), Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF), Historically Black and Colleges and Universities Library Alliance, and LYRASIS, the Swisher Library has access to other resources and collections in Florida and around the country through consortia agreements and inter-library loan programs. The Carl S. Swisher Library/Learning Resource Center (LRC) also houses seven conference rooms for group study, an exhibition area, a Bibliographic Instructional (BI) lab for library instructional classes, and the university archives. Special collections include: the Mary McLeod Bethune; the Attica Collection; and the Black Collection of books by and about Blacks. The archival area is the repository for documentary, photographic and other materials of historic value to the University and the community. Although the Library provides wireless access for laptop computers, there are also 2 computer labs which have a total of 97 computers throughout the building. The Carl S. Swisher Library/LRC serves as a major focus for improving learning, teaching, and research. It addresses the academic, administrative, and cultural needs of the University through the provision of resources identified above as well as consultative services offered to faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
