POLICY TITLE: Information Standards and Timelines RESPONSIBLE DEPARTMENT: Information (A) PURPOSE The purpose of this policy is to identify types of hardware, software and operating systems supported by Northeast Ohio Medical University s Information (IT) Department and the timelines for supporting such systems. (B) SCOPE The scope of this policy includes all personnel at University. (D) BODY OF POLICY The University s IT Department has developed timelines for supporting various hardware, software and operating systems. This document supports the Computer Equipment and Software Support Administrative Policy No. 3349 9 20. Consistent with that policy, it is important to note that non standard hardware/software will not be supported by Information (IT) under this policy either. (1) Hardware Specifications and Operating System Support Timeline Desktop Computer specifications and Operating Systems, or operating environments, will be supported for the specified time period as defined below. Support in some cases may also be contingent upon available manufacturer support during this four year cycle, outlined in this policy. It does not support any personal printers. Peripherals will be installed and supported as outlined in the chart below. NEOMED employees may use or purchase software for their personal use outside of NEOMED as governed in the respective license/purchase agreements set forth below. Such use/purchases are always governed under the software license agreement in place between NEOMED and the vendor. NEOMED has a site license for most of Microsoft s software. This licensing agreement allows for installation of the Microsoft Windows Operating System on NEOMED owned computers only.
