SYSTEM FEATURES Compare some of the unique features for installing RAM JACK deep driven steel piles. RAM JACK S UNIQUE PILE FEATURES 1 5 6 7 8 Driving Head Hydraulic Rams Bracket 1. The Ram Jack driving head delivers rapid power to long sections of piling for a faster installation and a stronger pile.. Have over 70,000 lbs. of driving force available to deliver to the Ram Jack pile column.. The Ram Jack bracket has been tested in excess of 100,000 lbs. of force. Guide Sleeve Steel Pile Pile Connector. The extended guide sleeve loads the piling vertically and rifles the piling as it is advanced to load-bearing strata. 5. The Ram Jack Steel Pile material has been tested and specifically selected for its unusually high quality to resist bending and buckling. Tensile tests average 150,000 lbs. 6. The 10 pile connector is composed of a smaller diameter section of the same high quality tubing and is crimped into one end of each pile section. The connector is a slip joint into the next pile section. Expansion Ring Soil Plug 7. This ring expands the soil away from the piling to reduce friction during the driving process for maximum penetration through unstable soil. 8. Creates a solid base for the lead pile section to bear on firm strata.

HELICAL PILE WITH PATENTED THREADED CONNECTION 1 5 Porch Bracket Steel Helical Pile Slab Support 1. The porch bracket has a variety of applications for light structures.. The Ram Jack Steel Helical Pile material has been tested and specifi cally selected for its unusually high quality to resist bending and buckling.. After installing helical anchors through the fl oor slab, the fl oor is raised mechanically and supported on fi rm strata. 6 Wall Tie/Back New Construction Threaded Connection. Clean, Easy installation. Commonly used in repair of retaining walls and basement walls. 5. Helical anchors are installed prior to construction to prevent downward settlement before it starts. By monitoring hydraulic pressures, anchors are load tested as they are installed. 6. Ram Jacks patented threaded connection reduces time during installation and strengthens lateral support.

CASE STUDIES 1 1 OHIO-VINEYARD CHURCH Situation The Vineyard project was behind schedule due to site prep work and relocating a diameter storm drain. Ram Jack was able to get the project back on track by installing 0 to 5 piles per day. Solution 1 piles required on addition 150 kip ultimate capacity piles Required 1/ diameter shaft with triple 8-10 -1 helixes Minimum 0,500 ft-lb installation torque 1. New construction helical piles being installed. Torque is a direct correlation to capacity. Therefore, the installation torque is carefully monitored and recorded.. After the piles are driven deep into the ground, the tops of each are cut off so that it is embedded a minimum of into the grade beam. A bearing plate bracket is then placed on top of the pile.. RAM JACK s patented piles embedded deep into the ground and foundation system provide the absolute best support for placing concrete foundations.. Finished product! Each RAM JACK Pre-Construction Pile is hydraulically torqued deep into the ground. Our patented helical pile provides both strength and stability that is unrivaled in the industry. UNION COUNTY VOCATIONAL SCHOOL What do you do when educators have planned an addition to a building, but fi nd the plans call for a full basement adjacent to and 15 feet lower than the existing structure? Situation The existing school was constructed with a slab on grade foundation. How do you shore the existing structure during the construction phase of the project? How do you retain the bearing soil beneath the existing structure and keep the moisture from escaping from the bearing soil? The exposed section of pile will also have to be designed as a column and the unbraced length will have to be addressed. The wall loads are 1.8 kips/ft with column loads as much as 5 kips. Solution After assessing the situation, it was determined that the only course of action would be to install 56 Ram Jack commercial brackets with deep driven steel piles. Ram Jack installed custom-built 16 feet guide sleeves and -7/8 deep driven thermal set plastic coated carbon steel pipe to load the bearing strata 0 feet below grade. Three rows of tiebacks were installed to brace the piles and help anchor the soil beneath the structure. The tiebacks were installed at feet excavation phases. After the tieback was installed at each excavation phase, a vertical, 8 inch thick, reinforced shotcrete wall was constructed to hold the soil and moisture beneath the existing structure before the excavation continued. Effectively building one wall all the way around, encasing all of the piles. Conclusion It is always important to have the right tool and expertise for the job. In this case, Ram Jack Foundation Solutions had to creatively devise a solution and custom build the tools to ensure that this was the case. This project resulted in the use of piles and took only 0 days to complete. Foundation underpinning systems are not all created equal. This is why more and more engineers and owners are choosing Ram Jack Foundation Solutions.

1 1 BETHANY BEACH BOARDWALK The original job description seemed pretty ordinary: construct a boardwalk supported by helical piers in the Bethany Beach, Delaware area, connecting the beach to the saltpond, so nature lovers could enjoy areas of the park previously inaccessible to humans. The walkway was to be six feet wide, and thirty inches off of the ground. The tricky parts? Don t disturb anything beyond one foot on either side of the walkway. The ground itself is more like swampland. Oh, yes, and watch out for snakes and other wildlife. This boardwalk is the fi rst of four sections of a nature trail that is being constructed in the area, connecting Bethany Beach to the saltpond, tying the two separate regions together for the fi rst time. The path will link outlook areas along the way, allowing environmentalists and nature lovers to observe the wildlife, including osprey nesting areas, up close and personal. The job piqued the interest of Scott MacKay, President, Ram Jack of the TriStates, Even though the project initially specifi ed a competing company s products, I knew Ram Jack had superior products for this type of job, so I was confi dent we had the better bid. MacKay knew that Ram Jack s durable thermal set plastic coated piers resist corrosion and are environmentally friendly, making them ideal for this wetlands application. Our powder-coated piers are ICC-ES certifi ed, MacKay says with confi dence. They don t rust or leak zinc into the groundwater, thereby contaminating it and endangering the fragile ecosystem. MacKay ultimately installed 16 vertical helical piers, plus 68 tiebacks for additional stabilization. You can drive your car on this boardwalk, that s how stable it is, he states proudly. Throughout all phases of the project, MacKay worked closely with the Prime Consultants, Landscape Architectural Services, LLC of Dover, Delaware and N.W. Johnson, Builders, General Contractors, for Phase I. The Town of Bethany Beach has just set the benches with signage to follow shortly on the fi rst section of boardwalk, and is placing the stone for the second set of walkways. Meanwhile, Scott MacKay and his staff are standing by with their hip waders and tall boots on, of course! OAK STEEL SUPPLY The project consisted of an existing manufacturing facility requiring the installation of a 5-0 deep precast concrete pit on the interior of the building. The opening of the excavation through the fl oor slab was approximately 0-0 x 0-0 and adjacent to a building column supporting a 1 kip load. Another obstacle encountered was the water table was 1-0 below fi nished fl oor requiring the dewatering of the lower 1-0 of the excavation. The owners had hired a contractor who did not have the proper experience nor the excavation technique to perform this type of project. During the excavation phase of the project, the excavation began to cave in undermining the column supporting a 1 kip load. Emergency action was taken to distribute the column load to stable areas of the fl oor slab and backfi ll the excavation to prevent structural damage to the structure. The Larson Engineering, Inc., on the owners behalf, contacted Ram Jack of Illinois (owner: John Walsh) for their expertise in underpinning the undermined column and also provide the shoring and dewatering required to safely excavate and install the 5-0 precast concrete pit. Ram Jack of Illinois worked with the engineer of record to develop an underpinning and shoring plan. The excavation began in 5-0 stages. At each stage, a reinforced shotcrete facing was placed on the perimeter walls of the excavation. Ram Jack helical tiebacks were installed on a 5-0 grid to secure the shotcrete facing to the soil. A wide fl ange beam was installed beneath the column footing to distribute the load to eight (8) Ram Jack driven steel piles. Each driven pile was installed with a minimum driving force of 60 kips. Due to the exposed length of the piles, Ram Jack helical tiebacks were also installed at 5-0 intervals along the exposed length of the shaft to provide lateral bracing. The pre-cast concrete pit was safely installed and the facilities production line is back on track. The strength, versatility and expertise of Ram Jack can overcome even the most complicated of projects.
