GUIDELINES FOR MENG400 INDUSTRIAL TRAINING 1. The student must have preferably completed the 5 th semester. 2. The duration of summer training is 40 continuous working days all of which should be in the same establishment or 3+5 WEEKS or 4+4 WEEKS for different work places are acceptable ( two Log Books will be filled for two places). 3. Students taking summer courses are not allowed to do training simultaneously. 4. There must be at least 1 qualified Mechanical Engineer in the selected place. 5. Engineering drawing offices are not acceptable. 6. If your family owns a suitable place for summer training, you are not allowed to perform your training at that place. 7. After you complete your training, register to MENG400 in the following FALL semester. You will be appointed an Industrial Training Advisor who will assist you in writing a 20-30 page comprehensive training report. (See guidelines for Industrial Training Report Writing). During the summer training take photographs, plans, specifications, etc. to use in your report. 8. You must submit your report before the start of the 1 st Mid-term exams to your industrial training advisor. If there are any modifications required, complete these and re-submit to your instructor. 9. A jury of two lecturers will be appointed to evaluate the report and an oral presentation (with the use of power point) before the start of the 2 nd Mid-term exams. 10. The jury will fill in the Evaluation Form. Students who are not successful will be asked to do training at a different place the following summer. GUIDLINES FOR MENG400 INDUSTRIAL TRAINING REPORT WRITING Your report should include a title page and a list of contents of the following sections 1. COMPANY INFORMATION a.) General information b.) Organization chart 2. PRODUCT INFORMATION a.) Production line b.) Maintenance Dept if any c.) Quality control if any d.) Research and Development Dept. if any 3. WORK PERFORMED Detailed information about the work you performed(expand your log book) 4. PROFFESIONAL DEVELOPMENT Give your views on the contribution of your training to your professional development. 5. APPENDIX Catalogues, drawings etc can be added. If possible supply samples of the products from the factory. 3
