to care How to care for your cutlery A guide to keeping your cutlery looking its best Stainless steel is one of the most durable metals available with its exceptional ability to resist stains, rust and corrosion. However, contrary to popular belief, stainless steel is neither stain nor rust proof and even the finest alloy will suffer if not cared for. So please consider the following to keep your cutlery looking its best for years to come. Washing Wash in hot water and a good quality detergent. Rinse in water of at least 80 o c. If using a dishwasher, remove the basket shortly after the drying cycle and allow cutlery to dry in an open space. Cutlery must not be left in the dishwasher overnight. Cutlery must be completely dried before it is stored. Stainless steel must be kept separate from aluminum or silver-plated items to avoid pitting. Prolonged exposure to foods that contain chloride, like mustard, table salt, eggs and jam can stain if not rinsed off immediately. Some of the minerals and salts in tap water can cause pitting and staining. Special Cleaning / Stains Use a mild abrasive or metal polish to remove discolorations and to revive the finish to your cutlery. Water stains can be removed by rubbing either alcohol or salad oil onto the pieces. To keep the shine on your cutlery use a sponge with white vinegar. Handling Perforated flatware cylinders are recommended to avoid excess handling and they also make transporting and dispensing easier. 4

Technical Information Stainless Steel Cutlery is primarily made of stainless steel. However, you will often see it referred to as 18/10 (18.0% chromium and 10% nickel) or 18/8 (18.0% chromium and 8.0% nickel). Generally, the higher the percentage of nickel, the better the quality of steel. Stainless steel resists stain, rust and corrosion better than most other metals, however, all metals do react to extreme conditions. Verona Pattern Chromium Steel This type of cutlery contains 13% chromium and is referred to as 13% chrome. It is attracted to a magnet and does not contain any nickel, making chromium steel less resistant to corrosion than 18/8 and 18/10.
