NATIONAL RECOGNITION (NR) RECOGNITION OF CURRENT COMPETENCIES (RCC) CREDIT TRANSFER (CT) Policy and Procedure Policy Purpose: National Recognition (NR) and Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) A student may apply for National Recognition (NR) and Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) if they are enrolled in a AQF Accredited National Training Qualification at Nature Care College and they have completed a nationally endorsed Training Package and Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) accredited course or completed units of competency within this accredited course at another training institution. The purpose of NR and RCC is to allow a student to automatically gain credit for a qualification or units of competency that they have successfully completed with another Registered Training Organisation (RTO). NR and RCC can only be given for a unit of competency or qualification that bears the same identification code (National Vocational Training Package Code) as that taught at Nature Care College. Credit Transfer (CT) A student may apply for Credit Transfer (CT) if they are intending to enrol or are enrolled in an AQF Nationally Accredited Training Qualification at Nature Care College and have successfully completed studies in the last 10 years. The purpose of CT is to allow a student to gain credits for units of study/competencies at Nature Care College that they have successfully completed a University within Australia in the last 10 years. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): RPL is the most common pathway for an applicant seeking credit. Please see separate RPL Policy & Procedure Credit Transfers, (CT) Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) are all pathways to achieve credit however it is at the discretion of the learning institute (Nature Care College) as to which process is to be deemed appropriate. The outcome of the process remains aligned: To receive credit and recognition of study/skills/competencies. Policy Scope: All students applying for National Recognition, Recognition of Current Competencies and Credit Transfer. Policy Content: In order to grant NR and RCC, the assessor must be confident that the applicant has completed a nationally endorsed Training Package and Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) accredited course or completed units of competency within this accredited course from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). For NR & RCC applications the student is required to provide certified (certified by a Justice of the Peace) copies of their original Qualification (if Qualification has been completed), Statement of Attainment showing units of competency completed and Transcripts of Results. The assessor must ensure that the evidence is authentic, valid, reliable, current, sufficient and complies with AQF and AQTF (Australian Quality Training Framework) requirements. Applications for NR and RCC do not incur a fee Credit Transfer (CT) Applications: In order to grant CT, the assessor must be confident that the applicant has completed a course at a University that is the equivalent (equivalent in curriculum and learning outcomes) of a unit of study & competency at Nature Care College. The assessor will map, compare and evaluate the extent to which the learning outcomes and assessment requirements of the individual components of one qualification are equivalent to the learning outcomes (and competencies) and assessment requirements of the individual components of another qualification. Note that in Vocational Educational and Training, learning outcomes are expressed as competency standards. For CT applications, the student/applicant is to provide certified (certified by a Justice of the Peace) copies of their original Qualification (if Qualification has been completed) and Transcripts of Results. The assessor must ensure that the evidence is authentic, valid, reliable, current, sufficient and complies with AQF and AQTF (Australian Quality Training Framework) requirements. Applications for credit transfer are applicable for each Unit of Study and competency seeking credit within the Nature Care College Qualification being applied for. The application must also be accompanied by the following documentation: 1. Original or certified copies of all official academic transcripts of the applicant s formal post-secondary education studies. 2. The qualification outline or description for the qualification completed at the other post secondary institution. 3. The subject outline & learning outcomes of each unit/subject the applicant is seeking credit transfer for (from the training/educational institution) including: a. The level of study, i.e. first year b. Learning outcomes or competency standards c. Assessment requirements d. Duration Procedure Process: NR, RCC and CT are applicable to students intending to or are enrolled in an AQF Accredited National Training qualification at Nature Care College. If a student wishes to only enrol in a unit of study (not an AQF Qualification) that contains pre and/or co-requisites and has completed the pre and/or co-requisites elsewhere, they need to refer to the Waiver of Pre & Co-Requisites Policy & Procedure. To apply for NR, RCC or CT a student must complete the National Recognition (NR) and Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) credit Transfer (CT) Application Form and submit it along with ALL necessary documentation. Applications received without the accompanied documentation as specified above will not be processed. Application Dates: Applications for NR, RCC and CT should be submitted four weeks before the commencement of the enrolment period at Nature Care College. Though NR, RCC and CT applications will be accepted at any time during a student s enrolment at Nature Care College, Nature Care College will not accept responsibility for any delays in study brought about by a late submission. Students need to continue attending classes until a final decision is made on their NR, RCC and CT application. Faxed or emailed applications will not be accepted. Processing of completed applications will take 2-4 weeks. The student will be notified by letter of the outcome of their submission within this period. International Students: Anyone may submit an application for NR/RCC/CT however International Students who are granted NR/RCC/CT may find the duration of their course has been considerably shortened. International Students must be enrolled in a full-time study load of 20 hours per week. As per Standard 12.2 of the National Code 2007, if Nature Care College grants an International Student course credit which leads to a shortening of the International Student s course, the College will: If the course credit is granted before the student visa grant, indicate in writing the actual net course duration (as reduced by course credit) in the confirmation of enrolment issued for that student for that course, or If the course credit is granted after the student visa grant, report the change of course duration via PRISMS under section 9 of the ESOS Act. Applicant enquiry regarding - National Recognition (NR), Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) or Credit Transfer (CT) for their qualification or statement of attainment. Applicant submits to Nature Care College the NR/RCC/CT application form plus copies (certified by a Justice of the Peace) of qualification (if complete), Statement of Attainment, Academic Transcript showing results, subject outlines issued by another Registered Teaching Organisation (RTO), College, or University. Refer to Policy Content or Application Form for details of evidence to provide. Nature Care College checks that the documents are authentic and complete and are compliant with AQF and AQTF requirements. NO If not compliant the candidate is informed and advised to provide additional information and an amended credential or verification of authenticity of documents from issuing RTO, or University. YES If compliant, Nature Care College recognises the qualification, units of competency; or subjects completed through RTO or University. YES Issuing RTO or University provides required information or authenticity of original documents. NO Applicant is notified and NR, RCC or CT confirmation letter is issued. International Students sign Student Confirmation of Successful Recognition Application Form which is kept in their file. Student enrolment updated in database. Applicant is eligible to enrol in further courses of study. NR,RCC or CT application unsuccessful. Applicant is notified and advised of reasons for non-approval. A Recognition of Prior Learning procedure or challenge assessment may be recommended. For further appeals refer to Student Grievance Resolution Policy & Procedure.
