This is accomplished by monitoring system and equipment performance, anticipating, defining and preventing problems, identifying and implementing improvements, and resolving unexpected problems. The position determines the required and most economical distribution and transmission enhancements and additions that will supply the forecasted load growth within all reliability criteria. 005606 Dir-Transm Reg & Bus Affairs This position is responsible for directing the activities of a group of professionals to support the Transmission organization's objective of maximizing the financial value of PPL Electric's transmission segment. This position reports to the Vice President Finance & Regulatory Affairs. The scope of responsibility for this position includes developing and implementing strategy for ensuring proper return on transmission assets is achieved through effective revenue recovery mechanisms, as well as identifying the proper business structure, strategy, business planning and regulatory policy advocacy to pursue to optimize the performance of the Transmission segment. This position works closely with the Vice President, Transmission and Substations to identify and analyze the financial impacts of opportunities for Transmission investment performance. The incumbent must maintain positive and collaborative relationships with internal and external constituents and communicate business intelligence to the PPL leadership team. 004110 Drafter-Level I Under close supervision, perform drafting work of an elementary nature; layout and detail simple engineering work; prepare detailed engineering drawings involving basic design work in the assigned discipline. 004692 Eng Mgr-EU Transmission Ops This position is the technical lead that represents PPL Engineering interests in the oversight of contract resources hired to manage parts or all of the engineering, procurement and construction phases of capital projects in excess of $100 million. The position assures that PPL s safety, design and performance specifications are correctly and economically incorporated in contractor work practices, drawings, purchase orders, and other work products either produced directly by contractors, or by their sub-contractors. The position manages internal engineering resources assigned to large capital projects. 005512 Eng Outage Rel/Risk Supv Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan. This position receives guidance and oversight from the TCC outage planning manager. Coordinates and supervises the activities of engineers and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in the Outage Planning Section of the Transmission Operations Department. The position is directly responsible for security analysis, long-term and short-term outage planning, and evaluation of risk to the Bulk Electric, 69 kv transmission system and PPLEU customers. Accountable for formal supervision, coaching, counseling, safety leadership and technical guidance to assigned staff in support of producing high quality, timely and cost-effective solutions to technical and business objectives. The position is also accountable for the technical quality of the group s and their individual output and is expected to continuously improve capabilities in this area. 005182 Eng/Drafting Administrator To perform a variety of managing, controlling, and documenting information being sent to and from contractors. A major focus will be electronic drawing and design information transfers using the Fusion Enterprise process. Ensures that all information is accurate and is updated in the Document Management System & assures quality control when they are returned to PPL. Operates a variety of computer programs using Microsoft Word and Excel Spreadsheet software to manipulate project & drawing data. Prepare reports on contractor project status. Maintains AutoCad License s and updates databases with user information. 002905 Engineer This position is responsible for performing, under supervision, engineering assignments that are varied and may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involve limited responsibility. Specific job positions may include assignments in planning, designing and overseeing of the construction, installation, operation and maintenance of electric components systems, and facilities used in the generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy. These tasks are normally technical in nature, and require an understanding of concepts required to evaluate alternatives and propose engineering solutions. This includes but not limited to, competitive transmission, finance and regulatory, customer service, partnerships, and joint ventures. This position is for a two year placement, which will include four rotations lasting approximately 6 months each. 005927 MBA Ldrshp Development Intern The PPL MBA Intern Program is designed to give MBA students practical leadership experience in their area of interest along with the opportunity to network with executives. It will also be the feeder pool to the full-time, two year MBA Leadership Development Program. The primary responsibilities of an MBA Leadership Development Intern are to: drive strategy development, lead performance improvement initiatives, drive special projects, and support business development efforts, including but not limited to, competitive transmission, finance and regulatory, customer service, partnerships, and joint ventures. 004480 Mgr-Project Management Decisions are guided by functional objectives. Manage the portfolio of capital projects ($150-250 million) for Electric Utilities. Lead Project Management and scheduling functions for projects ranging from large transmission and substation construction projects through medium size distribution projects. Accountable for execution from project identification thru construction, and subsequent turnover to operations for all projects. Position will ensure adherence to project scope, schedule and cost, including aggressive management of risk and project cost flow. Maintain a core competency of project management and scheduling functions ready to manage projects with the ability to expand or contract based on the number of projects under way or planned in the future. 001556 Mgr-Substation Engrg The purpose of this position is to manage, direct, lead and coach personnel in the Substation Engineering Section of Design Engineering in PPL Electric Utilities. The section is comprised of supervisors, engineers, technicians and drafters who are responsible for the design and drafting of all electrical, civil, structural, protection, control and instrumentation facilities associated with all PPL Electric Utilities substation and switchyard facilities, including Bulk Power, Regional, Area Supply and Generating Station substations and switchyards. In addition, section personnel assist in the development of standards, provide support to the field in specialty areas, and complete project estimates for substation capital work. The section responsibilities include the utility-side protection and protective control systems associated with unit-connected generators and combustion turbines, and the generator-side systems on request and under contract with the generation customers. The section provides similar design products on a consulting basis to customers outside PPL on request and as resources allow. The incumbent assigns work to supervisors, engineers and technicians; monitors section resource requirements (manpower and budget) and delegates drafting activities, including training, drawing files philosophy and technical upgrades to the Drafting Squad Supervisor. The incumbent supervises 8 direct reports, and 31 indirect reports, including both bargaining unit and management employees. The section produces designs for several dozen capital upgrades, customer projects, and generator interconnections each year, totaling $30 to $40 million in project costs annually. 003926 Mgr-Transmission & Engr Svcs The purpose of this position is to manage, direct, lead and coach the personnel of the Transmission and Distribution Design Section of the Planning & Engineering Services Department of PPL Electric Utilities. The section is responsible for the transmission design aspects of the entire PPL Electric Utilities transmission system which exceeds 3,000 miles of line operating at voltages varying from 69 kv to 500 kv. The section is also responsible to prepare the bulk of the distribution designs for USF projects identified by the planning department. The section produces designs for 450 to 500 capital upgrades, PennDOT and customer relocation projects each year, totaling $30 to $40 million in project costs annually. The section responsibilities include the utility-side transmission connections to generators and load customers, and the generator/customer facilities on request and under contract with the generator/customer. The section provides similar design products on a consulting basis to customers outside PPL Electric Utilities on request and as resources allow. The section is comprised of multiple skill set personnel who are responsible for field survey, assistance in the development and updating of design and construction specifications, research, design, project estimating, grading and foundation designs, etc. for transmission and distribution projects on a company wide basis at all voltage levels. Section personnel also provide services and technical assistance to other groups in PPL Electric Utilities. This position manages personnel who prepare transmission and distribution line designs, civil/structural designs and site layouts for all PPL Electric Utilities, transmission line and substation siting, and surveying functions. This position assigns and monitors section resource requirements, (manpower and budget) and delegates survey and design activities to licensed professional and other technical staff. 004487 Mgr-Transmission Planning Direct the planning, development and integration of the PPL EU bulk power (69kV and above) transmission system. Direct the preparation of the PPL EU five-year capital construction budget for the PPL EU bulk power transmission facilities that totals $2 Billion. Direct the development of PPL EU policies with respect to transmission planning and on load analysis issues. Direct the development of power system analysis models that include Short Circuit, Load Flow, Dynamic Stability and develop appropriate measures to ensure accuracy. 005607 PJM & Federal Reg Policy Mgr This position is responsible for advocating PPL's positions on transmission policy and regulatory matters at the FERC, EEI, and PJM as needed. The position is responsible for ensuring adequate and proper representation on the various PJM committees, FERC conferences, EEI Forums and for developing and coordinating consistent positions on issues that impact PPL Electric's business interests. The position reports to the Director, Transmission Business and Regulatory Affairs. 002780 Planning Technician To assist in preparation of plans for electrical system modification and expansion. 004481 Project Manager-EU The Project Manager position is the single point of accountability for PPL Electric Utilities projects with medium size and complexity, and values that range up to tens of millions of dollars. This project manager may manage multiple projects simultaneously. Manages the engineering and construction of Transmission, Distribution and Substation projects, as well as the upfront project activities including siting, and right of way. This position must identify and analyze the significant risks and recommend proactive workarounds or mitigation strategies should the risks occur and must be capable of managing and influencing a wide range of subject matter experts to accomplish the overall mission of the organization. Must be goal oriented, action-focused, pragmatic and self-disciplined. In addition, she/he must excel at project planning, organizing, communication, team motivation and delegation. 005640 R-Asset & Policy Strategy Mgr Leads the development, management and monitoring of the entire transmission and substation asset strategy and 5 year investment plan. Manages a group of 5-10 individuals who perform system analysis on existing and new projects/programs to ensure that the overall investment plan is best for the company. This position will also maintain a critical relationship with PJM and other industry regulators on the communication of our investment plan and key dates for projects. This position will also look at future changes to policies and regulations (such as FERC order 1000) and ensure that our business is strategically aligned to maximize performance in the future. 005540 R-Eng Outage Rel/Risk Supv Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan. Operating Engineer Transmission Operations directs and advises the TCC Outage Planning department s and the TCC live desk. As a certified transmission operator, directs the reliable and secure operation of PPL Electric Utility's Transmission System in accordance with FERC, NERC, and RFC guidelines, and PJM's and PPL's Reliability Principles and Practices on a minute to minute basis. This position directs Transmission System Operator-NC, System Operating, Distribution Operations, and Electrical Test personnel in the operation, maintenance, and installation of Transmission equipment and facilities under the control and responsibility of Transmission Operations. 005835 R-ProgramMgr-Subs Connectivity This purpose of the position is to direct and control the activities of the EU Telecommunications function including the planning, organizing, and directing a staff of supervisors and technical personnel. Must be capable of managing and influencing a range of subject matter experts. Responsibilities include budgeting and long range planning of the telecommunications infrastructure with an annual operating budget of approximately $6,000,000. 005373 R-Sr Analyst EU Responsible for providing analysis and solution of moderately complex business process and technical problems with a focus on improving operational effectiveness and excellence.
