BREAKING RECORDS Teacher s notes MINISTERIO DE EDUCACIÓN Level: 5 th year Primary Education (Third Cycle) Functions: 1. Familiarize children with words and expressions related to landmarks and the natural environment surrounding us. 2. To be able to use adjectives to describe landmarks and to use the adjectives in the comparative form. (short and long adjectives) Vocabulary: vocabulary related to landmarks and natural environment (lake, river, sea, ocean, mountain, waterfall, cave, desert, island ) and adjectives (long, hot, high, big, small, short, deep, dangerous ) Phonetics: pronunciation of the new words from the unit by listening to native people pronouncing the words. Objectives: 1. To identify words related to landmarks. 2. To get to know vocabulary related to landmarks and our environment. 3. To reinforce vocabulary (taught) through activities and games and to reinforce grammar contents (comparative and superlative adjectives). 4. To understand very easy oral and written texts related to landmarks. 6. To produce oral sentences related to this unit. 7. To understand very easy oral and written texts with the unit words and the grammatical structures related to the unit. This unit introduces aspects related to environmental education as a topic through activities and games. If you want to have a printed version of these notes with more details of each section, you can print the file teachers_notes_ breakingrecords.pdf in the root directory of the unit. In the text folder of the unit you can find a printable activity resource pack that includes an answer key sheet.

UNIT DESCRIPTION: MINISTERIO DE EDUCACIÓN This unit consists of three parts or sections. The activities and exercises are distributed according to the principle of growing difficulty. Each exercise is prepared to catch students attention and maintain their scope of interest at a high level. We have to take into account the age of the students- third cycle of Primary Education. Main screen Through this screen you can go to the index menu, the credits screen (if you want to know who has made this unit, or if you would like to contact the author) and this document. There is an arrow that will lead you to the index menu. Index screen: This screen allows the user to go wherever they want. The activities are available by clicking on them. Part 1: It looks like 1. Click and listen In this scene, the students are going to listen to the words related to landmarks and environment ( volcano, mountain, island, waterfall, cave, desert, ocean, river, sea, etc...) They can learn not only pronunciation, but also writing and meaning. 2. Click, listen and match In this screen, students have to join the words with the corresponding audio. You can check your answers by clicking on the VERIFY button and you can erase the results by clicking on the CLEAN button. 3. Use your memory In this scene, our learners will join the pictures with their corresponding words or audios in pairs, the pictures will correspond to those related to landmarks and environment. 10. End of part 1 Students will be invited to continue with the unit through a screen that lets them know they reached the end of part 1. You Part 2: Our natural environment 1. Click and listen In this scene, the students are going to listen to adjectives related to landmarks and natural environment ( hot desert, old cave, dangerous volcano, cold glacier, deep lake, extensive sea, high mountain, long river, narrow canyon, amazing waterfall, small island, tall tree, etc...) They can learn not only pronunciation, but also writing and meaning. If you want to know what you have to do, you have to click on the TASK button. You 2. Listen and match In this screen, students will match the phrases related to well-known places with their corresponding audio clips. If you want to know what you have to do, you have to click on the TASK button. You can go back pressing the left arrow and forward pressing the right arrow. Use your memory In this scene, our learners will join the pictures with their corresponding words in pairs, the pictures will correspond to landmarks and natural environment.
