We are privileged to have RICHARD M. WEBER, MBA., CLU, AEP, as our guest speaker. Mr. Weber is the national president of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. Come and hear the latest national news. He will also be providing us with a perspective on Working in the Interest of the Client: The Society of FSP and Ethical Standards of Care. This will be an in-depth discussion of fiduciary myths and truths, and our responsibilities to our clients, as well as how the Code of Professional Responsibility of the FSP provides a framework for ethical behavior. This program has been approved for one hour of ethics credit in the state of Kansas, as well as one hour of PACE and CPE credit. CFP and Missouri credit are pending. Richard is President of the Society of Financial Service Professionals - FSP - and in his spare time is President of The Ethical Edge, Inc., located in the San Francisco Bay Area. With 45 years of experience in sales, training, product design, marketing, compliance, and insurance company senior management, his firm provides training and consulting services that help empower life insurance agents, financial planners, advisors, and their clients to explore and view life insurance in the broader context of financial planning. His research paper - Life Insurance as an Asset Class - received the Academy of Financial Services Best Paper Award for 2008. Part 2 of this paper has recently been published. Dick is the Society of FSP s Kenneth Black, Jr. Leadership Award recipient for 2008 in recognition of his... exemplary leadership qualities and significant contributions to the fulfillment of the Society s core values of ethic, education, and relationships, and in 2009, he was inducted into the National Association of Estate Planning Council s Estate Planning Hall of Fame and selected to receive the Distinguished Accredited Estate Planner Award. Upcoming Activities During the upcoming months we will continue to have activities, so watch your emails. May 29 th Study Group at Target Insurance Services: Topic: Uncover Planning Opportunities Using the 1040 Overlay At this study group we will explore the planning opportunities when working with a client s 1040 tax return. By reviewing the tax return, it can be an effective way to identify his or her protection needs. Survivor income, estate tax liquidity, and saving for and protecting retirement income are a few of the many needs that can be identified. We will look at both the 1040 and Schedule A for planning opportunities.
