A smarter way to support and grow your business 3 How it works IBM hosts its Virtual Server Services on a shared virtualised infrastructure at IBM-managed facilities in Australia. Virtual Server Services packages for production servers include a service level agreement of 99.95% infrastructure availability. The Virtual Server Services platform runs Windows or Linux virtual machines on VMware vsphere using IBM System x servers and enterprise-level IBM System Storage. Each Virtual Server Services customer is appointed an IBM single point of contact for services provided. Customers also receive: 24-hour infrastructure monitoring and alerting 24-hour incident response 24-hour proactive troubleshooting Switch and router management (between virtual and physical servers) 24-hour access to IBM s award-winning Service Desk in Ballarat, with a dedicated 1300 phone number and the option of a service connection portal to view and manage incidents online. Control your costs With IBM Virtual Server Services, you only pay for the infrastructure you need. IBM charges you a monthly rate, which is adjusted as your requirements change. This removes the need to invest upfront in processing and storage infrastructure and is a smarter way to reduce and control management costs. It allows you to match costs to business requirements and to handle seasonal fluctuations or one-off projects without over-investing to support peak demands. Management and reporting IBM Virtual Server Services includes management of capacity provisioning, infrastructure and server hardware. We also provide timely reporting on: Service level agreements (including problem response time and problem resolution time) Health checks (including CPU, memory and disk) Utilisation (including number of logical partitions, number of CPU hours and storage capacity).
4 IBM Virtual Server Services Choose the level of service to suit your organisation IBM currently offers a choice of two services packages for production servers: Bronze and Silver. Pricing is per virtual machine and based on the level of support you select. Bronze Price-per-VM service hosted on IBM s robust infrastructure The Bronze package is a hosted virtual server service whereby customers manage the applications and the operating system, including: patching, monitoring, change and incident management, licenses, antivirus, backup, capacity management and security. Silver Price-per-VM hosting with full operating-system management The Silver package is a robust hosted virtual server service whereby IBM manages the guest operating system and customers manage their own applications. IBM conducts annual data restore tests and manages the operating system, which includes patch management, backup service and capacity management reporting. IBM Virtual Server Services lets your organisation access, on demand, a standardised, cost-effective and flexible IT infrastructure to handle the workloads on which your business depends.

Future release Future release Gold Price-per-VM high-availability hosting with full operating-system management The Gold package is a comprehensive hosted Virtual Server Service where IBM manages the guest operating system with automated failover between two Tier 3 data centres. This package includes all the features of the Silver package, plus disaster recovery simulation. Customers manage their own applications. Sandbox Defined capacity of server resources with VMware vcloud Director The Sandbox package is a hosted service with a defined capacity of resources that can be used for testing and development or production workloads if business requires. Customers can create and remove virtual machines using VMware vcloud Director. Customers manage all virtual machines, guest operating systems and applications.
