Nuvia Cloud UC Interconnect Reference Guide Not all Cloud UC services are created equal. Large organizations need a solution that provides the security, flexibility, and reliability required for mission-critical communications. Nuvia Cloud UC is built on carrier-grade technology from GENBAND the same technology used and trusted by hundreds of the world s largest service providers. Nuvia Cloud UC provides interconnect flexibility ensuring that organizations can use access dial tone from a variety of sources. This pragmatic model eliminates a common barrier to adopting cloud UC services. Copyright 2015 GENBAND - All Right Reserved - v05152015

Cloud-to-Cloud Connectivity Nuvia provides carrier-grade SBC and SIP Trunking services directly from the cloud, allowing organizations the ability to provide cloud-based telephony and unified communications services without the complexity of dealing with on-premises SBCs or media gateways. The is the simplest and move cost-effective option for most organizations because they realize the cost savings of a 100% cloud solution without additional hardware/software or maintenance expenses. A 100% cloud solution doesn t translate to over utilizations of an organization s Internet bandwidth. The Nuvia SBC makes sure media for intra-site calls stays local. Only calls made to a recipient over the PSTN or made off-network go over the link to the Cloud. Application SIP TRUNK

Locally Managed SIP Trunks Some organizations may already have managed SIP trunks or PRIs. Nuvia easily connects with media gateways allowing organizations to utilize all the telephony, mobility, and UC features of Nuvia while continuing to route PSTN calls through their local trunk. Application SIP Trunk or PRI Gateway

SIP Trunk Consolidation Organizations with geographically dispersed offices might find themselves managing multiple SIP Trunks with multiple dial plans, which is both costly and complex to manage. With Nuvia, organizations can consolidate these locally managed SIP trunks into a unified Nuvia SIP trunk so all of their users have a consistent dial plan and centralized class of service reducing costs and eliminating the IT burden. Application SIP TRUNK SBC PBX SBC PBX SITE

Integrating Cloud and On-Premises SBCs In some cases, organizations need a premises-based SBC (often referred to as an esbc) to support additional services. One common example being a Microsoft Lync server that requires remote users to register on the local SBC. Premises-based SBCs, like GENBAND s Q10, can offer enhanced security, interworking, and session handling. They also route client registration requests to the appropriate UC server, whether it is local or in the cloud. Nuvia s cloud-based SBC can interconnect and interoperate with a premises-based SBC, allowing organizations to maintain their local solution requirements while still benefitting from cloud services. Application SIP Trunk or PRI Gateway SBC

Leverage PBX Investment While Deploying Cloud UC Organizations with a large headquarters or regional offices may have an on-premises telephony solution that was recently deployed or has custom integration, making cloud migration cost prohibitive. Nuvia does not require that every site be moved to the cloud to create value. Migrate some sites and leave other in-place; this is a common need when organizations have aging branch offices or remote workers that can quickly benefit from a cloud solution. Organization can quickly reduce the cost and complexity of providing telephony and UC services to smaller more geographically dispersed locations while leaving some other locations untouched. By leveraging SIP trunking and a common dialing plan, all the user can quickly connect, regardless of location or equipment.
