2 SIP Trunking to Lync/Skype for Business Server The emergence of Unified Communications integrating communications services into desktop and mobile computing has enabled MicroSoft s Lync (rebranded as Skype for Business in Q2 2015) to meet a growing demand for such services. Using our SIP Trunking connection options, VoIP Logic s Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) allows our Service Provider Partners (SPPs) to sell to business customers that utilize the MS Lync/Skype for Business unified communications server. As a Service Provider in such a dynamically changing market for communications, keeping the technology you offer and the range of integration available current, is critical to winning and retaining customers. With Lync, Microsoft has put communication and collaboration on the desktop for the hundreds of millions of users of Microsoft Office (now commonly sold as Microsoft Office 365, as a service). Combining this powerful extension of familiar software with either the public telephone network and/or broad functionality associated with an enterprise PBX, is a powerful tool for all aspects of business communication. Figure 1: VoIP Logic SIP Trunking to MS Lync Server visualization How VoIP Logic SIP Trunking works with MS Lync Servers SIP Trunking to MS Lync is an enterprise telephony connectivity solution that enhances the capabilities found on a traditional IP-PBX. The MS Lync connectivity configuration has completed interoperability testing with VoIP Logic s SIP Trunking Interoperability Test Plan. VoIP Logic extends the premises based functionality of the MS Lync Server environment with additional options for resiliency and redundancy, along with integration to Enterprise Hosted VoIP and advanced Collaboration support through linkage to VoIP Logic Logic s United Communications Client Software (UCCS), generally available in the coming months. 1

3 VoIP Logic has worked extensively with MS Lync Virtual IP-PBX Platform. We have assisted SPPs in numerous MS Lync connectivity scenarios, from simple SIP Peering to complex SIP Trunking to Hosted integrations, we have a clear understanding of how to support SPPs with this specialized offer. This provides SPPs that are working with MS Lync based customer environments, with the assurance that VoIP Logic has the expertise to support them as they become involved in MS Lync implementations, no matter what the configuration. VoIP Logic has two major Platform scenarios, along with advanced UCCS Collaboration tools that allow Service Providers the flexibility and control over their SIP Trunking to MS Lync product offerings, while providing highly desirable enhancements to their customer s MS Lync functionality. This will allow them to provide competitive/cost effective offerings, whether they are connecting to an implementation of MS Lync that they provided, want to upgrade a customer s current MS Lync Platform with VoIP Logic SIP Trunking connectivity or enhancing MS Lync with our UCCS Soft Client. Direct Peering SIP Trunking to MS Lync: VoIP Logic Direct Peering SIP Trunking provides the ability to utilize the Acme Packet (Oracle Communications) Session Border Controller (SBC) advanced routing capability to provide Peering based SIP Trunking on the VoIP Logic Platform to an MS Lync server. The connectivity can be established via IP to IP Peering between a Service Provider s MS Lync Virtual PBX server and the VoIP Logic core platform. Figure 3: VoIP Logic Peering SIP Trunking Platform to MS Lync Server protocol flow visualization The advantages of our SIP Peering Routing Platform allows for manual or automated redirection of MS Lync server SIP voice traffic using Acme s sophisticated rerouting protocols by integrating QoS performance monitoring and routing policies with real-time controls. This is accomplished by integrating session signaling and media as source and destination for all signaling messages and media streams coming into and leaving from VoIP Logic s core platform. 2

4 Peering SIP Trunking to an MS Lync server provides a cost effective way to receive the benefits of VoIP Logic s core Platform infrastructure resiliency and redundancy for SPP s customers who want to migrate to or currently utilize the MS Lync server. In general, Service Providers find that their customers can take advantage of the efficiencies of a VoIP converged network by eliminating separate Data/Internet Access circuits and taking advantage of improved business continuity, while enhancing the resiliency of a MS Lync Platform. Using VoIP Logic Peering SIP Trunking provides SPPs with the opportunity to increase revenue by providing VoIP services to many of their prospects and customers that were not able to utilize resiliency, efficiency and cost savings with their current MS Lync Platform. This can provide a new source of revenue that was not previously available to the SPP. Feature SIP Trunking to MS Lync: Feature SIP Trunking is the most versatile and effective of the SIP Trunking platform options available for VoIP Logic s Service Providers Partners (SPPs) who sell to enterprise customers that are migrating to a MS Lync platform or who wish to enhance the capability of that platform with additional flexibility, control and resiliency that VoIP Logic Feature SIP Trunking provides. Implementing Feature SIP Trunking involves direct peering to the BroadWorks application server.
